That is great information to know, good that Redline gave you that reference point temperature. I just put Redline 10w30 in my car tonight. I'm going to try and monitor oil temps in the next while and see how high they get. If you get some temps on your car over the next while it would be interesting to know. I'd support Redline 10w-40 if you needed it, but the mix you describe sounds like a good point to start. Have the fluid analyzed after a run with it and take it from there. BTW, I just dumped Castrol 5w-40 synthetic from my engine tonight and I have some serious concerns with it based on how dirty my engine now is after using it for one short interval. I posted on this in this forum.

good luck on your oil choice, I think it will work fine.

I measured my oil sump temps after about 30 minutes of driving, including some highway blasts, the sump temps were around 75 degrees C. I thought they would be a bit higher.

I have been using 0-30wt German Castrol. My car is a 05 and includes free Mobil 1 oil. My Dealer installes the GC that I provide and lets me take 5 qt of Mobil 1 home with me. You do not need a 50 WT. The racers are not interested in 100k miles down the road performance. They may even be running loose forged pistons or even sloppy bearings to free up horsepower. read the papers on viccosity at the end of these forums. My car runs cooler on the GC. Great oil for a street driven EVO.
