Hi Guys,

My first post so......Hello everyone
wink.gif

I believe that the Castrol Edge 5w-40 is on the Porsche Approved oils list. I have several quarts of Castrol Edge in 10w-40. I live in South Florida (Miami to be exact) and I recently purchased a 05 Cayenne Turbo with 85K Miles (runs fantastic!).

Since I am in Miami and the SUV will never see temps colder than say 35 degrees F is it OK to go with the 10w-40 instead of the 5w-40 that Porsche calls for? I have about 30 quarts of the 10w-40 Edge but I am willing to buy the 5w-40 if there is any down side to doing this. I want this engine to live a very long and happy life as it has up to now.

Thanks!!!!

Yes. Its fine.

Likewise, I too purchased 15 quarts of oil this summer. 8 were 10w30 and 7 were 5w30. Guess which noe went in in the summer? Thats right.. the 10w30.

With two straight weeks of 100+ degrees and the rest of the summer 90 and up, it was fine. You are in South Florida, so, go for it.

Is it an ACEA A3 rated oil? If not, that is flag #1 that would make me not use it (besides the fact that it likely doesnt carry the Porsche rating).

What specs does it carry?

Sump is what 9 quarts? How many quarts is several? 3 0r 4? Sounds like you will need to buy the 5w-40 anyways.

You might have a little better class of response over in the european side of the forums. They might even read ALL of the message and cognate a useful suggestion.

Settle down there...several and 30 are nowhere near the same. [censored] I made a mistake I love the Internet brave...how's this- no run what I do in our Cayenne m1 0w-40 or castrol 5w-40. And other than being out of line with me where is your value added post? Go be a jerk-off somewhere else.
