Not sure if any other fellow 10th gen Civic owners here have taken a good look at the belt molding on the tops of their doors lately but you may be surprised at what poor condition they are in. The rubber 'wiper' that contacts the glass is prone to deteriorating and falling apart. It's apparently a known issue. Mine were in terrible shape, with the rubber looking like jagged teeth and were sticky to the touch, leaving black residue on my fingers. I should have taken pictures before they were thrown out but I wasn't thinking.

New trim pieces are about $20 per door and replacing it is quite easy. No need to take the door panels apart or remove the mirror. These guys show how easy it is to do.

My only regret is that the first door I did, I didn't roll the trim out far enough and ended up breaking off the clip. No big deal since it was being replaced anyway but the plastic clip fell into the door and that bothers me a little. Oh well.

only 8 years old and already falling apart.. that's just sad for Honda's longevity. :( Not to rub it in but the same moldings on my 96 Civic only needed to be repainted 3 times (SEM brand trim black paint) during it's 28 year life.. But were not falling apart.. Good to hear they're not expensive on the 10th gen Civic

I had to fully replace all the belt molding on the Accord last year. Did a $45. set from Amazon. It has held up well.

Odd thing is the same parts on my '15 Accord are totally fine and they are two years older, but the materials do have a certain different feel to them.

The real issue is when they stop making the replacements.

That's my fear. If these got this bad in only seven years, I may buy two more while they are cheap and available and stash them somewhere.
That's exactly what I did with my old Civic, as parts began to become more difficult to find, I started a stash.

One more thing.. what about applying Shin-etsu silicone grease (Honda's brand) to these moldings? Since it doesn't seem like the paint came off (anything with silicone would be difficult to paint) the part that goes against the window glass. Maybe that might help it from cracking in the future?

I replaced the moldings a few months ago on my 2017 Civic, along with those for a coworkers 2017 Civic coupe.

Bought a set on Amazon, but the quality wasn't good, so I returned them and bought OEM moldings for both vehicles.

I watched that second video posted above, and promptly broke off the clip on the first molding. After that, I was more careful, and made a plastic tool to slip under the molding to depress the clip. Everything went fine then.

As for the moldings, I think there are two colors: gray and black. Watch which you are ordering if using aftermarket parts. The Amazon parts may not separate the two, just say they fit 10th gen Civic. Buyer beware.
