Well I am about 90 miles shy of 105k so what better way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Here is the new belt installed. I realize the marks on the belt dont line up but its because the engine has been turned.

Upon disassembly I found this on my crank pulley.

Here is what was replaced. Also have some new Samco radiator hoses and t bolt clamps.

This is my new favorite tool. Made dealing with the pesky driver side cam gears a non issue.

So I am waiting to get a new crank pulley and I will be ready to install the radiator and go.

I already have a lighter flywheel so im afraid if I go with a lighter pulley I might get a cel.

Honestly I only have it because I found a good deal on a brand new one and a new exedy clutch ($350 for the pair) on ebay. I really cant tell much difference with the flywheel other than its a little harder to drive in traffic.

I assume there's a cover that goes over that whole affair? I haven't seen too many Subaru engines up close (at least not that clear of a view!) and can't remember what goes on down there.

Yep there are three peices that cover all of that and leave just the outlet on the water pump sticking out.

That is a sad crank pulley. And why the 105k service shouldn't be ignored. The belt and water pump can go well past that, but if a pulley or tensioner lets go...engine goes kaboom. Makes me a little paranoid and miss my non-interference old Ford engines.

Just had the job done on my Outback, as the TB job is a little above my comfort level/skill set. Belt, tensioner, pulleys, water pump...good to go for another 105k miles now.
