$10+ Gas

And where exactly will the rest of that crude oil go which was used to make diesel?
That will also make diesel.

There's a refinery in Philly that's partially shut down because they used to make a Russian blend of crude into diesel, as noted in the link on page 1.

When the others crack crude, they have some discretion over what comes out, and they will be tuning for more diesel if they aren't already.

THIS is what we need right now:

Nobody blaming futures traders?! They are at least partially to blame for some of this overprice.

They said 2 years ago they wanted $10 a gal gas. I have a bad back from bending over so much.

$10 a gallon just might be a possibility in places like California and the NE USA.

Things might get bad if _____ happens.

Right now gas is selling for less in KC, than the wholesale price that is being traded on the commodity markets. Some phony baloney going on here. IMO

As bad as the oil production side is for the cost equation, there is the double whammy of declining fuel refining capacity. Refinery output and capacity declined during the shutdown and has not recovered to pre-COVID levels.

The long term outlook is not good, either. The last new refinery in the US went online in 1977. We've had a number of refineries demolished or converted to other uses, and the combined output of all US refineries are running at 90% capacity, which is difficult to maintain long term.
