I agree with the whole, "making them act slow and stupid". When I was younger I would see these types at parties.

Usually all sitting together laughing and acting like they all have IQ's in the range of room temperature.

The only official study that claims marijuana is a gateway drug was conducted by the Kandels. It didn't even involve marijuana. They exposed a rat to nicotine for 7 days and found the rat was more receptive to cocaine afterwards. It was then falsely correlated that humans would do the same with marijuana. Marijuana and harder drugs do have a common denominator centered around people with undiagnosed/untreated mental heath conditions, but environmental factors play a bigger role when it comes to one influencing the other. (ie: availability / peer pressure)

Alcohol has to be one of the meanest legal drugs on the market and because it's legal for some reason it is not called a drug because its established long term use among the population. Its a horrible barbaric addicting drug for many and it has an affect in many people of making them aggressive and assertive. The crimes committed and the public accepts it. It's also the cause of many health issues and issues in society as well. It really is evil compared to pot which for the most part makes people happy and non assertive.

If we allow a drug in our society, alcohol is the BIG TIME loser and pot is hand down the winner. Sorry, will end my posts here. Can't teach an old dog new tricks I guess. One day the young will maybe do away with the accepted drain alcohol has on society and families across this nation. It's laughable to think anything else.

I say this as a person who enjoys a cold beer when out of my boat or in my yard. One or two max, worst case 3 over a days time. But I still would be forever in favor of banning the stuff for all the damage alcohol does to others and its innocent victims.
Pot makes most everyone slow down, chill and laugh, alcohol is the polar opposite for MANY.

(Unrelated) Some people actually do become more focused when they smoke certain strains, though usually not as it relates to driving. Driving while high is a bad thing, no matter the stigma or legal status. I know someone though with rather severe ADHD, and weed got her through college. It would calm her ADHD, allowing her to focus on her studies. Some of your favorite song lyrics, the songwriter was probably higher than a giraffe's arse while writing it.

Why not? What is so bad about marijuana compared to EtOH? We pride ourselves on this being a free country and it is easy to see EtOH is MUCH more harmful than marijuana if for no other reason than it has no stigma. Every middle-aged housewife on social media shares how they drink wine every single day and no one thinks twice about it.

The only common denominator I have seen with pot and harder drugs is a person's willingness to try something new OR as a fallback option to get a high regardless of the drug used. Otherwise every "pot is a gateway drug" claim is usually from people who have never tried it or tried it once and then they know everything about it.

The insurance industry and other 3rd parties have alluded to there being approx a ~6 million man gender deficit in the overall population of the US. (2024). This is up from a ~4m deficit in 2020.

I doubt it’s Maryjane causing the bulk of that “excess death” or one would think the other gender would also be affected.

You can argue which is safer all day and how people react but the fact is that it is different for everyone. No matter how each affects you, neither one will help you drive better and have better reaction time.
I am not even sure how police deal with someone that gets pulled and the car smells like weed. Is there a test?

Your comment suggests that cigarettes are an even greater performance enhancing drug because cigarettes contain nicotine - a known stimulant.

There is a roadside test for recent marijuana and other hard drug use. However, it cannot determine if you're impaired or how much you're impaired. The timeframe isn't accurate enough either. It's not used currently as it's difficult to make a definitive case with it in court. There's also forms of THC (like D8) that have little impairment while still providing the medicinal effects. You can show a high amount of THC in a mouth swab with no impairment whatsoever. Likewise, someone could swallow an edible of THCa concentrate, be high as a kite, and show little to nothing in a swab.

Missouri made a bundle in the first year of Recreational sales. Funny how I-70 is being widened to 3 lanes each direction across the entire state right after all this tax money starts coming in.

I have smoked weed before. I can see how it can enhance performance as I was able to super focus on the task at hand. Whether this translates to physical attributes or not, I'm clueless.

I smoked cigs a long time. Quit 29 years ago. I could get high as a kite if I smoked a cig now. Once or twice.

Yes. Anybody who knows me personally knows I'm highly critical of news sources. When looking up something from the news that's of importance, I usually take 5 angles; a right wing source, a left wing source, a "centrist" source, a foreign source, and original study/source of information. The truth is buried somewhere in the middle of it all. I did that with this topic.

Least not forget that the news networks are in the entertainment business. They live and die by ratings just like a reality TV show. Naturally, they're going to feed you whatever will keep you peeled to the screen, often tapping into your biggest fears. Take nothing at face value.
