I'm currently running the larger PureOne (L30001). My engine is quiet at start up. The ticking from the valvetrain seems to be most audible once it has warmed up. It can only really be heard from inside. With the windows down or radio on I can't hear it.

I had an 00 cherokee years ago. I ran a 40 weight only because my oil pressure light would come on at hot idle. The dummy gauge showed 0 at hot idle lol. Obviously it wasnt that low, but the light bugged me enough to use a 40 weight.

I also had a lifter tick (or so I thought) which turned out to be a cracked exhaust manifold. I just lived with it.

When using 5w30, my hot idle oil pressure in the middle of summer is 15 psi according to the gauge. With 5w40 its 20 psi hot idle. I don't have any exhaust ticks since I have the California Emissions package with the two pre-cats and different manifold. It definitely sounds like more than one thing ticking, like a bunch of ticks at the same time, haha. I've just chalked it up to these 4.0's being noisey.
