Has anyone here that owns a turbo Cruze ever used AFE 0W30 in their car? And even for those who don't own one if you could chime in with your thoughts on it, that would be pretty nice. Thank you.

It's dexos licensed, so it shouldn't be a problem in your Cruze

dexos1 is the spec, and Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w30 is perfect. And it even meets the old Corvette GM 4718M spec which is for high temperature toughness. Good up to whatever your dash light Oil Life Monitor says. Its not an extra long drain oil like Mobil 1 Extended Performance or the newer Mobil 1 Annual Protection, but Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy is good stuff.

I ran it a couple changes when I found a few jugs on sale - it was fine.
Currently running Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 ... my OLM only lets me run between 6k-7k ... but EP was on roll back to $25/jug

GM Australia say to run a Dexos2 oil in the 1.4 and 1.6 iTI Turbo Cruze engines.
Just saying.

BTW I quite like the Cruze, a friend has one.

Yes it would. But only below about 25 degrees F would the Mobil 1 0w30 give better MPG in my estimation based on the Widman Visc Calc and assuming the PPD and VII in the 0w30 has a non-newtonian effect when getting very cold. Actually, the Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 has a higher VI ! VI is figured on KV40 and KV100, which is warm and hot, where the 0w30 formulation doesn't show any MPG benefit and is thicker than the Pennzoil Platinum 5w30.

As the engine warms up from very very cold, I give the MPG advantage to the 0w30. Anything above around freezing (0degC), Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 wins.

Yeah I've been using PP Ultra since I've had the engine replaced and I love it. I'm a big SOPUS guy. But just looking at other options seeing as Ultra is becoming so impossible to find at a reasonable price now.

Really? Walmart sells Pennzoil Euro L now that is Dexos2. Maybe I should give it a try. I wonder why it is specified for that versus Dexos1. Maybe Deposit formation?

What are you running for an OCI in your Cruze?

I run the OLM to zero. I bought the car new and changed it the first time at 75%. After that around 25%. A few changes in I ran down to around 15% and had the oil tested. It was the best report I've had for any car I've owned. Looked like going down to 0% was easy and is as far as I'll go while in warranty. Usually 7-8000 per OCI.

Aside from dexos2 being suitable for a diesel Cruze in North America, it's specified for "other" things outside of North America due to ULSG. Now, that doesn't mean you can't use a dexos2 oil in a gasser; you just have to watch OCIs.
