It makes no difference if you run the 0W-20 or the 5W-20 during the summer. At operating temps the oil will be a 20 weight. I would go with the 0W-20 Amsoil year round

Maybe they allow both because there is so little difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong - I don't have much knowledge of the lighter grades because nothing I own is spec'd for them - but isn't 5W-20 usually conventional or blend oil up to Grp III synthetics (Grp II+, Grp II/III or Grp III) whereas pretty much all 0W-20s are Grp III/IV or higher synthetics? In that case isn't it really just the convenional vs blend vs synthetic question expressed in different terms?

I am running AMS Oil 0w-20 in my 07 Tundra. I switched over at 1,300 miles. The truck runs noticeably more quite when started on cold Ohio mornings. these truck are known to have a slight knocking when started in cold weather and I have not had this symptom since I switched to the AMS Oil,

Toyota recommends either 0w-20 or 5w-20 but recommends 0w in cold weather. AMS 0w-20 is approved for use in motors calling for 5w-20 as well.
