I see that. Petro-Canada seems to have their finger very deep in the Dexron VI pie, for some reason. As far as I know, they supply the service fill up here for GM, too.

As for your mixing idea, you know I don't like mixing.

I think my phobia has hit a new low. When doing my last OC a week or so ago, I found myself comparing batch numbers on jugs.

Actually, I found myself checking how similar the mobil 1 add packs were between grades in one of the other blending threads.

I've got a Penrite racing/Mobil GrIII blend in the Nissan at the moment...for the last 7,000km.

Go figure

This is a tough application for motor oil. Needs to be a 0W to be able to start at -40, yet protect the engine for long periods of boosted operation. If Polaris has a 0w50 that they recommend for it, I would buy that. And running a 0w50 for 2500-3000 miles in the snow seems like a very long time. I would probably be inclined to change it after every weekend of running.

We had a thread here last year discussing the shear stability of Motorcraft 5w50, and somebody produced a spreadsheet showing that MC 5w50 shears immediately to a 40-weight within about 1500 miles, then if it is run hard (track days), it shears to a 30 weight. I picture that happening on 0w50's, only maybe it will go all the way to a 20.

M1 0w50 racing oil would be my second choice.
If you want a Redline oil, 0w40 would be my choice, but ester oils are not known for their excellent cold flow properties. PAO base is probably better for this application.

I was thinking about something. What if an oil was a 5w50 because it just barely failed the 0w CCS test? Would it be easy to determine that?
