0w-50 options

That's the thing. I am quite sure that this engine needs the 0w-50. Being that it makes 165hp on a 750cc motor. that 220hp/liter. The machine will see (and already has seen) northern Ontario and quebec where -40 is very common.

In terms of shearing, the OCI for this machine would be roughly 2500-3000 miles. will it shear that quickly?

Because then it'll just shear down to a 30wt. But then you can just get a 0w-30 and have it shear down to a 20wt. Or better yet just get a 0w-20 and be done with it.

hths of 2.3 or 2.4? thats way too low for me.

Dude GET ENEOS if you are going to go 0W-50.

I was thinking Syntec 5W-50 was GREAT and still do, and now we have the classic Mobil 1 contender from that ONE store that sells M1 5W-50.

Anyone have a sheet on M1 5W-50 to throw in? Because Sntec just may be "Good enough" and a lot of people like it. And IT is "Hydrocracked Group III."

FWIW, If it IS "Hydrocracked Group III" then its likely to be closer (into?) a 40 when how not a 50, to Thin 50 to be fair. I learned different base-stocks are SUPPOSED to be immune to that but GIII it still applies. (Right?) That is another reason some people go thick.. I cant believe -ALL- oil doesnt change properties when in ACTUAL service not a lab test.

A snowmobile eh? If I wanted to be cheap, I'd use 20w50, drain all the oil, heat it up, and then pour it back in every time I started it. lol

But then again, it might really need a synthetic so yeah. I'd call up the manufacturer and see if I could get away with a 5w50 Group III syn oil.

Well, it says, "exceeding 2200+ ppm levels." It also says, "is suitable for use in passenger car, light commercial, competition vehicles and motor cycles." Am I missing something?

Oh, they made a typo: "Premium 0 exceeds the exceeds the requirements of API SN/CF, ACEA A3/B3 as well as many other manufacturers specifications."

Does using the word "exceeds" twice in the beginning of a sentence make up for lack of actual approvals?

That is a high VI. And they do make a fair number of approved lubes. I never realized they made so many of them!

Wondering if the 0W-50 will make a good partner for my 5W-30 Racing that I bought on supreme special ($35 for 5L) a couple months ago...add percentages are the same.

^^^You just convinced me to add MORE M1 0W-40 to my mix with the Sustina 0W-20.
