Did this one a while ago, just neglected to post it here. More highway trips this time. At some point I had to replace a torn intake hose, plus reseal the oil pan using hondabond. I'm pretty sure the intake hose tore on my previous analysis, while the oil pan sealing happened this time around. Hopefully that explains the high silicon. Changed filter with same Fram Ultra Synthetic that was on it before. The universal averages have changed slightly since my last oil change, which I found interesting, numbers in parenthesis are the new universal averages.

As blackstone says:
"The second report for your Accord is another good one. Aluminum improved and a reading of 4 ppm tells you the pistons/bearings are doing just fine. Iron (steel wear)is a pinch higher, and that's normal after a longer run. The increase in silicon is a bit of a surprise. That could show dirt in the oil, unless it's from a sealer/lube of some sort. If you didn't open the engine up recently, just make sure the air filter is clean and properly seated. The TBN shows active additive left, and no fuel or coolant showed up. Try ~14,500 miles next time."

Well, I actually went for 15,832 next time, but no analysis for that one, i've got the data I need, and would now like to save money from it. That interval included a nearly 5,000 mile trip from Georgia to Montana and back, plus the usual amount of highway driving. The oil life indicator hit 0% at a whopping 11,656 miles! Keep in mind this car was made in 2006! That was far longer than I have ever seen it hit 0%.

Nice. Love to see long runs with no makeup oil, it really shows what an oil on a DD is capable of. If that silicon gets cleaned up I can see even longer oci's. Might also bring iron wear down? not that it's bad mind you. Thanks for your posting, keep it up.

I actually have a spare intake hose on hand. They seem to just randomly tear sometimes, especially if you don't loosen the connection when trying to change the air filter.

The J30A4 really is a nice running engine if you keep up the maintenance.

It doesn't help that I put on a slightly milled down intake manifold spacer from a Honda Odyssey. Mine is the J30A5.

Athens, huh? Not too far from me!

Well, Statham, but no one knows where that is, so Athens is close enough.

Still, hard to beat a non-VCM J-Series.

They do that with the K24 as well. I've had to replace it on both 2007 Accords I maintain. Luckily they're not too tough to replace.
