I did a 10k M1 EP 5w20 interval on the CR-V, and I'm sending it in for my first UOA ever, with Blackstone. I'll let you all know.
The interesting thing was that I also drained the original ATF out and refilled with 3.3 quarts of Z1. The fluid was brownish and seemed pretty used up. It didn't smell burned but it sure didn't look as good as I would have hoped after only 35k. For those who has this trans, please change the original fluid out earlier than the 60k recommended, it appears.

quick color up to brown is normal for the newer Honda automatics. composition of the friction material used and design of clutch packs.
the Z1 does break down in viscosity by about 30k depending on driving style and location temps.

i do a 7 qt full gentle flush on the wife's 2 HMC rigs every 30k using Valvo Maxlife ATF. going to try the Castrol Syn Import Multi-veh. the next flush
added an inline Microfine filter and plate fin cooler to ATF cooler line

the newer Honda 4 bangers are very easy on oil with low wear metal #s. M1 may show a higher iron # than other oils but nothing to worry about.

I do premature ATF changes all the time (25K is max, and this is KM's not miles)

And always use Honda/Acura ATF-Z1 in the honda transmissions. I wouldn't chance it with any other.

I also use Maxlife. Actually, probably time for another change.

As for oil, I go with whatever I reach for on the shelf. Usually a 30 weight but only b/c that's what I have lots of, not b/c I don't trust 20 weight or anything.

I did 2 quick D&F of AMSoil ATF in my '07 and then 3q 1x a year in spring. The engine can run on anything, but I use M1 0w30 because I have it stashed.
