Who cares if it's made by Fram. I have used the Fram made Honda filter many years,cut them open and had no issues.


To the OP... I will use aftermarket (99% of the time) but i will use Honda OEM, if I can find a good deal on Ebay. There has been 0 issue with oil filters on my car.

if your going to get a honda oe try to get the toyo roki or the filtech they are both great filters, the honeywells are ok as well but you might as well save your money and buy the fram tough guard since it is basically the same thing. but since we starting using performax (purolator) we have had much fewer oil filter related problems. also congrats on the elements, they are hands down the most reliable (newer)hondas. i can't remember the last time i saw one in for anything but routine maintenance.


You're a dealer, you should be using OE parts.

Jiffy Lube uses Performax filters. Do your dealer charge $9.95 for oil changes or something?

it wasn't my choice to change but since we had so many failures and so much of our relationship with honda is based off of the costumer satisfaction scores from hondas surveys, the powers that be decided to try something else, the price difference (cost)between the two filters is'nt that different. we fully disclose this to the customer and if they wish to have a honda filter they get one. in this area we are cheaper then wal-mart, we charge $24.95 wal-mart is $30.00.


With WM I get to pick bottle oil for that $30, and I get to bring my own filter in (they credit the difference). So for $30 I get a bottle oil of my choice and filter of my choice. To me the WM oil change is a better deal.

we stock honda oil (mobil) quakerstate, and valvoline,and can pick honda filter or performax. if you bring your own parts we deduct the price from your bill, also i have seen some pretty bad work come from walmart even some damage.

My point is, it's bottle oil at WM, I can see them pull the bottles off the shelf... I know what goes in my engine. If your dealer stock bottles of the oil you listed and I get to see it go in my engine then it's a good deal. Personally I don't know what's in those drums, this is why I do my own oil changes.

except for the quakerstate it's in bottles, quakerstate we have bulk.

fwiw, my local Honda dealer where I purchased a vehicle is advertising a LOF special for $19.95 using up to 5qts of Northland oil (huh?). When the car was new they were supposedly using Honda (MC5k like) oil and I had a couple done there for the same price. Course there's no tellin as I believe it was bulk not bottle.

Just another reason I prefer DIY. But, bringing ones own oil is another option.
