Are you sure about that? I thought it was just the average wear/adds/miles from all the UOAs for the particular engine.

Blackstone Laboratories' Oil Report
For Gasoline / Diesel Engines

Averages: The universal averages column is the average of all the samples we have analyzed for the particular equipment make and model. The unit/location averages column is your average wear for that particular type of equipment. They are both running averages and change with the number of samples we analyze.

Interesting post. I also have an 03 BMW 325i and dumped the factory oil at 3K miles and put in Amsoil 5w30 since the service writer at the dealer told me it was OK to use. I was then told last month that it was not OK to use so I did a change at 8K miles to GC 0W-30. I did draw a sample of the Amsoil when I drained it, but haven't sent it in yet. Should be an interesting comparison to your UOA.

vettenuts, if you get the oil analysis done at Blackstone labs ask for the Dyson Analysis package which gets his personal attention and TBN values for $35. Normal cost for this is $45. So you save money and get expert feedback on your analysis. Isn't this the reason we get our oil analysis done in the first place?

Let me know how your UOA turns out.

Thanks
