Blackstone: We found very little change since the last sample from your Subaru. All wear remained steady for this type of engine, which, along with the steady wear trend, is a very good indication of normal wearing parts and careful operation. We did find a little bit of fuel dilution, which is common in engines that see a lot of city driving and/or idling. We don't consider it a problem until it reads above 2.0%. The TBN read 3.3, showing active additive remaining in the oil. Try 5500 miles for the next sample. Wear should stay in the normal range.

My comments: Very pleased, just wish we didn't have so much short in-town driving. Oh well . . .

Well, I would want to know where the fuel dilution is coming from. Are you doing a lot of short trips/excessive idling?? Even though with all that dilution your metals are goin in the right direction

With the exception of the occasional long drive to a relative's home, most of the Forester's trips are lights.

On a brighter note, I think I may have convinced my wife that it's good for the car when we take the "scenic," i.e., longer, route into town.
