the owners manual calls for 75w-90 in a synthetic gear oil , previous change was w/ MOBIL 1 75w-90 at about 26,000 miles and currently has about 76,000 since the MOBIL 1 ( hope that wasn't to long an interval ) . So , I ordered REDLINE MT 90 75w-90 synthetic from local auto parts store . Hopefully didn't order wrong product ( other being MTL ) .

Your choice is correct. I use MT90 in my 06 Corolla and it shifts a dream. Changed factory fill at 5k miles and it was surprisingly dirty. I intend to change every 2 years/20k miles. Overkill yes but I enjoy.

MT90 is the correct fluid.
50k isn't excessive if vehicle wasn't worked. I prefer 30k intervals simply because there are too many owner variables like time, environment, transmission history, location, weather, level,.....

That M1 is good for protection, but I can't imagine that your shifting was very good.
You should see an improvement with the new sauce.

where's the filler plug and drain plug located on our 2000 Chevy PRIZM ( Corolla )? Is the filler plug horizontal or vertical ( need 17 m.m. wrench or allen wrench to remove )? As for the drain plug vertical or horizonal , left or right side of the manual housing ? Would assume 2000 transmission housing be same as the 2006 Corolla . Also , did it take 2 qts. or less / more to fill the '06 Corolla ? Couldn't find a Chilton / Haynes repair guide in this town

drain plug on driver side of housing if I recall correctly, horizontal. fill plug is on front of case halfway down, not that easy to see, but still accesible. 2 qts. is the listed capacity in my owners manual.

should I be concerned if mechanic at local dealer possibly ony used about 1 and 6-8 tenths quarts of the 2 quarts that are needed ? Plenty of the REDLINE MT-90 ended up on the counter when he jammed the hose of the greasegun in the bottle forcing it to overflow . Carelessness makes me

MTL is awesome and would stick up to replacing a 75W-90 with no problem. MT-90 is great too but you could have had a little better milage. Shucky Darn!

I have always had an extra quart just in case of an accident but some are the accident.
