I agree. I'm no expert, but I've done lots of reading and haven't seen one word from any reliable source stating an elimination of zinc in the near future. I started this thread because some dude, in some other forum, stated that ALL zinc in motor oil was gonna be eliminated in 2008. I hate...

OK, I hate rumors. But, just read one, something about zinc in diesel oil will be eliminated sometime in 2008. Any truth to this? I have a feeling that it ain't so. Give me some good info so I can fire back.

I run it in my Neon, Dakota and my 1965 Dodge Coronet with a big block flat tappet cam engine. NEVER a problem! Sometimes I run other gas in my Coronet, like Chevron or 76, but see no performance difference.

Did I understand the article posted above to say that synthetic clings to metal longer/better than dino oil? If so, then that would be the oil to run for better cold starts. Yes?

Most all the VOA and UOA I've seen show that Delo 400 LE 15W40 has 1300 or more zinc ppm, plus it has moly where Rotella doesn't.

I run Delo 400 LE 15W40 in my 1970 big block 383 Mopar engine. Plenty of protection (zinc & moly +) there.
