    Diesel Oil Zinc Heading South?

I agree. I'm no expert, but I've done lots of reading and haven't seen one word from any reliable source stating an elimination of zinc in the near future. I started this thread because some dude, in some other forum, stated that ALL zinc in motor oil was gonna be eliminated in 2008. I hate...

    Diesel Oil Zinc Heading South?

Quote: It was reduced to 1200 ppm (more than enough, really) for 2007, but it is still there. 1200 ppm for the CJ-4, up to 1500 ppm for the CI-4. Anyone else?

    Diesel Oil Zinc Heading South?

OK, I hate rumors. But, just read one, something about zinc in diesel oil will be eliminated sometime in 2008. Any truth to this? I have a feeling that it ain't so. Give me some good info so I can fire back.

    Arco(BP) Gas

I run it in my Neon, Dakota and my 1965 Dodge Coronet with a big block flat tappet cam engine. NEVER a problem! Sometimes I run other gas in my Coronet, like Chevron or 76, but see no performance difference.

Stored Vehicle - Start Monthly or Let Sit?

I drive my 1965 Dodge Coronet every 2 to 3 weeks in the winter months. But, I go on a 15 mile drive on the Interstate at 60 mph to get the engine and all moving parts up to temp. If you're going to start it once in awhile, make sure you drive it good and long. Do not just set in the garage...

FYI: I've been running NAPA 15W40 "diesel" dino oil in my Mopar big block engine. This year (cruise season) I'll be running Chevron Delo 400 Synthetic 5W40. Zinc is rated at or above 1500 ppm, viscosity high 14's. Cost of that oil is reasonable. This oil has all my engine needs and more.

    "Most wear occurs at start-up"

Did I understand the article posted above to say that synthetic clings to metal longer/better than dino oil? If so, then that would be the oil to run for better cold starts. Yes?

Oil for flat tappet musclecar motor

Most all the VOA and UOA I've seen show that Delo 400 LE 15W40 has 1300 or more zinc ppm, plus it has moly where Rotella doesn't.

    Gasoline without 10% Ethanol?

That explains it. I guess I'll try some race gas blended in with the 92 gas at the pump to see if it helps any. Thanks.

Cevron with Techron or Shell Gas

Long story short: Have a 1965 Dodge with a modified 383 big block. Plugs would get to looking "dirty", kindda like engine loading up. Been running Shell cause the station is close. Decided to switch to Chevron. I got around to installing new plugs after running a few tanks of Chevron. I was...
