    Motor Trend Filters

Has anyone heard anything about the Motor Trend filters - who manufactures, price, etc.? I've seen their advertisement in my last two issues, but it doesn't really give much info. I'm basically just curious - thanks to this site. They also have air filters, and they're both advertised as...

    Dino oil for VQ35HR - (2007 Infiniti G35) ?

I used Havoline 5w30 (dino) exclusively in my VQ '05 Altima until 30,000 miles, then made the switch to Schaeffer's 5w30 (synthetic blend). The longest I ever ran the Hav was the Nissan-recommended 3750 miles - I had a UOA done with a Dyson analysis, and Terry was happy that I had changed it at...

    Schaeffers in F150 4.6

Hello, and to the site, siggydo. I've used the Fumoto valve with no problems for over a year now. Quick, easy, and trouble-free. I think you'll find the Schaeffer's/Wix combination will serve you well. I had the best UOA ever (for my car) using the Schaeffer's, and I had run it for a longer...

    2007 Honda Accord 2.4 - Recommendations

Hey All, I plan on using Schaeffer's exclusively for 5000 mile OCI as long as I'm still under warranty, but I need some advice... Current mileage is 1200, and I am going to leave the factory fill in for the first 5000 miles before changing the oil/filter. Any problems with switching to the...

    Nissan 3.5VQ - 4600 miles, Schaeffer Supreme 5W30

Onmo'Eegusee - A buddy of mine knows a guy that runs a local quick-lube joint. He was able to get the Schaeffers for me at $3.50/qt. BillionPa - let me know how the Si is if you get the Amsoil air filter...that's the one value that always been in the teens on my car.

    Nissan 3.5VQ - 4600 miles, Schaeffer Supreme 5W30

Thanks for the comments everyone. You've all just confirmed what I was thinking. I made the decision to go with the Schaeffers/NapaGold after reviewing many UOAs/comments here on the forum. unDummy - I do plan on sticking with a 5k OCI just for convenience/ease of remembering, now that I've...

    Nissan 3.5VQ - 4600 miles, Schaeffer Supreme 5W30

I've been a lurker for a while, and this is my first run with the Schaeffers. I'm using a Napa Gold filter, and the air filter is a PureOne. I think this looks pretty good, but let me know what you think. Miles on Oil 4500 / Universal Averages Miles on Car 40603 Aluminum 3 / 3 Chromium 1...

    '05 Nissan Altima 3.5, 3000 miles on Havoline 5W30

Hey All, I just recieved my first UOA today on my '05 Nissan Altima with the 3.5L VQ engine; I'm still awaiting Terry's analysis. I really have no interest at this point in extended drain intervals (warranty, you know, and dino's cheap). I was just curious as to how my car was doing, as I've...

    Valvoline Syn 5W30 Nissan VQ35DE 1557 miles

Ray H, We'll get to see about the Havoline 5w-30 SM in a couple of months. I'm going to do the first ever UOA on my '05 VQ (approx 12000k by that time).

Havoline for VQ35? Or go to Syn?

Hello, I had similar questions, and ended up going with the dino Havoline for now, and will then probably switch to synthetic after I use up the case I just bought. I'm changing out the Valvoline currently in it (VQ35DE), and plan to do a UOA on the Havoline after 3000 miles. It's easy to...

Nissan Altima VQ35 - Newbie with Questions

Ron - it looks like Nissan doesn't necessarily recommend against synthetic...it just states that mineral based oils are recommended. I plan on switching to some form of synthetic blend or full synthetic after I use up my new case of dino oil.

Nissan Altima VQ35 - Newbie with Questions

Thanks for the quick responses, everyone. I know that I read recently (somewhere, just not sure where) this whole discussion about dino vs synthetic, and how synthetic should not be used. So, I checked the manual (why didn't I do that in the first place? ). As Paranoil and Anthony have both...

Nissan Altima VQ35 - Newbie with Questions

First post here - I have been a reader of this forum for several months, and the amount of information (and the knowledge of the posters) is mind-boggling. Naturally, I have a question for everyone, and would appreciate your recommendations. I recently purchased a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE, and...
