    What oil in a 2003 zx-6r?

Hello, I have a 2004 ZX6R, basically the same thing. Great bike, the suspension needs to be softened up quite a bit and they really need a steering dampner. I got a Ohlins for mine. I have about 14,000 mile on mine and usually change at 3000 miles but have been known to go further. I have used...

How much trouble taking off valve cover ?

Hey that's a pretty good idea Bryanccfshr, I just want to check out the valve train after all the maintainence I do. It has 150,000 miles so it should be interesting.

How much trouble taking off valve cover ?

I have a 1998 Toyota Camry V6 (1MZ) that's a known sludger, I've done 2 ARX cycles and would like to see what she looks like. Is this pretty easy ? I don't want to do it if it's too much trouble. FWIW, I'm pretty mechanically inclined. I would also assume a new gasket is required ?

Is Red Line the primo oil?

It seems to me RL may be great oil to go with after an ARX cycle. I have a 1998 Camry 1MZ (3.0 V6) that is a know sludger. From what I've seen RL has low oxidation levels and is supposed to keep and engine from getting dirty. I'd love to see a valve cover shot of someone who has used it for a...

    Redline and clutch slippage ??

I did many searches last night and read through many posts and couldn't find wheather RL causes clutch slippage. Everyone seems to like it for it's cleaning ability and I thought it would be perfect for a Sport bike and also my dirt bike. I wanted to run the 10w-40 or 15w-40 and couldn't find a...

    2 oil change questions ?

First does anyone else wear gloves when they change oil. For instance I get those throwaway gloves at the grocery store. I find that the dirt doesn't get under your fingernails, as well the oil normally takes many hand washings (sp) to get off. Also I try to replace the crush washer each time...

Any problem with adding extra oil ?

Ha-ha that's what I thought, I was kinda scratching my head for a second. It may work out as my dirt bike holds 1.05 quarts, I could always use the extra in that. OT, I may just switch to the Shell 5w-40 over the Amsoil MCF (10w-40). It's a difference of $8.00 for the amsoil and $3.92 for the...

Any problem with adding extra oil ?

Thanks for the replies guys, I did not overfill, I just have a bunch of quarts and jugs with a very little amount of oil at the bottom. I'll probably pour the leftover stuff in my gallon jug of Rotella T 15w-40. I always go right in the middle of the sight glass after riding 30 min to a couple...

Any problem with adding extra oil ?

I have a MC that shares engine/transmission oil. The manual calls for 3.6 liter (3.80 quart) when changing the oil. I usually buy oil by the gallon and wanted to know if it would be a problem to just round it off. It really doesn't look like that much extra. BTW I hate having gallons and quarts...

    Harley Syn3 or Amsoil

Well actually it was pretty nice discussing that. Most Harley guys I talk to are Kool-Aid drinkers so it's good to hear someone that can see both sides of the issue and understand why someone rides something different than they do. Back on topic... FWIW I don't think you can go wrong with...

    My new "to me" truck.

I've been wanting a cheap truck for a while. Picked this up from a business for $1800 1999 F150 longbed, 71,000 miles, 4.2 V6, 5 speed, no options at all. In other words, perfect !! Apparently businesses are allowed to write off a vehicle for so many years, they just bought a new truck and I...

    Harley Syn3 or Amsoil

I grew up in a motorcycle family and have ridden everything there is. My brother still has an old 1976 FXE. I'll admit that when I ride it a lot of people check it out. Unfortunatly more guys than girls. I also know many a Harley guy that won't own anything post evolution. They call it a poseur...

Could the big 3 have figured it out?

It worked for Harley because instead of trying to compete with the Japanese which they knew they couldn't do they sold an image to all the balding middle aged boring execs and middle management people who watched Easy Rider and wanted to ride around 500 miles a year and act like something...

    Harley Syn3 or Amsoil

You have a Harley, that sounds like your problem. I've owned many a Japanese motorcycle and broken them in hard. I'm getting 110 rwhp when others are getting about 104-105. Also I ride probably 4-5x as many miles as the average Hardley rider, er should I say biker. If your blowing any modern...

Mobil 1 Official oil for S&S MC

Yea, I just read it. I don't know if you can call those glorified farm engines "performance" Perhaps they get those wannabe posers to the bar a little quicker than a normal Hardley Ableson. Oh and thems shore is shiney, and they's loud so they must be fast
