Mobil 0w-16, 9,700 miles, 2019 Toyota Camry, 2.5 Liter 4 cylinder Dynamic Force

Well, I plan on keeping the car for 10-15 years so I'll let you know as I DO plan to keep the 10K/1 year interval for the life of the car. So 1 quart added usage for every 10k for every 100k miles, would be a quart every 5k miles at 200k and a quart at every 2500 miles at 300k. FYI, it doesn't...

Mobil 0w-16, 9,700 miles, 2019 Toyota Camry, 2.5 Liter 4 cylinder Dynamic Force

This is a nice report for a great engine. Used a Fram Ultra filter, an 8 month interval with 60% highway, 40%city and short trips. For all the too thin naysayers and 5k with synthetic oil changers, this report hopefully will open some eyes. Toyota factory recommended oil change interval of 10k...

    Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20, 9600 miles, 2017 Sienna 3.5 liter v6

I had this in my 2007 Lexus. Dual injection is actually for performance purposes rather than cleaning. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a...nes-have-both-port-and-direct-injection/ I disagree, this is a direct quote from the article you cited. "The ultimate strategy is combining both PI and...

    Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20, 9600 miles, 2017 Sienna 3.5 liter v6

It is a combination port and direct injected engine. I think Toyota and Ford are going with this dual setup. You get the benefit of no carbon buildup on the intake valves as the port injection cleans them, but the added power and fuel economy of direct injection. Hopefully it is reliable as...

    Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20, 9600 miles, 2017 Sienna 3.5 liter v6

Couldn't ask for a better report. 35K on the vehicle so far, no make up oil was added between changes. Was concerned about Toyota's 10K mile, 1 year oil change schedule as I have always been a 5-7k OCI guy. Looks like I didn't need to worry and Toyota engineers got it right, at least with this...

    Small capacity oil pan question

Sorry, I meant decrease OCI. Thanks for the input, did the old 3.4 liter have this small of a sump, I know GM sold millions. Should be an indicator.

    Small capacity oil pan question

I have a 2008 Pontiac g-6 3.5 liter v-6 with a 4 quart oil capacity. This seems like a small oil capacity for a v-6, most other 4 cylinder cars I've owned have been 4.5 to 5 quart capacity. I also have a 2010 Caravan with a 3.8 v-6 that has a 5 quart capacity. It seems like the trend has been to...

    Mobil 1 5w-30, 5,489 miles, 2008 Pontiac G-6 3.5L

These are the universal averages that Blackstone provided, my numbers were very close as stated in the report. I think the OLM was around 35% left. ALUMINUM 3 CHROMIUM 1 IRON 15 COPPER 16 LEAD 4 TIN 1 MOLYBDENUM 76 NICKEL 0 MANGENESE 2 SILVER 0 TITANIUM 0 POTASSIUM 2 BORON 46 SILICON 12...

    Mobil 1 5w-30, 5,489 miles, 2008 Pontiac G-6 3.5L

The car is still under warranty, 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain so that is why I stuck with the factory recommendation of 5w-30. But I live in northern NY and it can get to -20F to -25F with no wind chill in January and February. I thought the 0w-30 would give me better cold start protection but...

    Mobil 1 5w-30, 5,489 miles, 2008 Pontiac G-6 3.5L

Used a Purolator classic filter, wear metals were very close to average according to Blackstone but iron and copper seemed a bit high for this interval? I am now running 0w-30 Mobil 1 for winter and thinking a 7500 mile interval next time. Thoughts? I run the G6 to redline probably 5-10 times a...

Checking condition of oil on dipstick

OK, I know that many believe you cannot tell the condition of your oil by just looking at it or feeling it between your fingers. That a used oil analysis should be performed. However, it is a method I have used for years, if the oil is still not completely black, in my mind, it is still decent...

Ever find it hard to go back to dino?

OK, let me get this straight, dino is just as good as synthetic?????? So all the research, money, and science are all just a scam so the oil companies can make more $$$$$$. So people that spend more on oil can feel better?? Give me a break, synthetics are proven to protect better in high heat or...

Change oil filter without ever changing oil

If you stay with synthetic, I think 12-14k is reasonable considering that you would be adding 8-9 quarts during that time. Seems like alot of synthetic users push their oil that far only adding 1-2 quarts of makeup oil with no problems. If you go with dino, get the cheapest SN you can find at...

    Engine oil additives

OK, thanks for the info., my 2000 Neon with 165,000 miles is getting what sounds like some valvetrain noise with a slight knocking sound. That's why I was looking at these products in the first place. Was going to try Marvel Mystery Oil but was unsure what it did exactly. I guess I'll just leave...

    Engine oil additives

Was looking in PepBoys today and saw Lucas oil stabilizer, STP oil treatment, Marvel Mystery Oil, and Restore engine treatment. You add all of these to your oil and they are supposed to make your engine last longer, run better, cleaner, less noise, etc. Two questions, first, what is the...

    Engine life, synthetic vs. conventional

I have to say I am very surprised by the replies who all believe synthetic oil will not extend engine life over dino. I thought it was an accepted fact that it WOULD, why else pay double or more for it, even with extended oci's. I understand most engine wear occurs at startup and with better...

    Engine life, synthetic vs. conventional

If there is no measurable difference in engine life, why would Valvoline double the mileage warranty for synthetic?? It is logical that is because synthetic extends engine life over conventional, hence the increased warranty. Seems like they would know. The Mobil 1, 1 million kilometer test...

    Engine life, synthetic vs. conventional

So Vavoline offers a 150,000 mile engine guarantee for conventional oil and a 300,000 mile guarantee for synthetic. I would hope that the engines would run longer than that without a major sludge/internal problem, assuming regular oil changes and mixed driving, no racing. First question is has...

2010 Dodge Caravan 4.0 oil question

I have a 2010 Grand Caravan with the 3.8 liter, it calls for 5w-20 with 6 month/6,000 mile oci's. I wonder why the 4.0 liter calls for 10w-30, seems very strange to me, you would think 5w-30 at least for the cold start protection.
