oil for my '15 6.7 Powerstroke

Oil weight, whether it gains .05mpg or not by running a 10W30 vs a 5W40 is really a moot point on new Ford trucks that drop a valve every 60,000 miles or so at $20,000 repair bill. Just run oil, then hope for the best, pray more like it.

    Honda duel-clutch

I'd never buy a motorcycle with an automatic either. I swore I'd never buy a pickup truck with an automatic either, but was dumb enough to buy one back in 1997. Never ever again on 2 wheels or 4. I figured it up once what that mistake cost me and the figures are not here, but if memory serves it...

The new Indians revealed last night

$19,000 seems right in line with Harley prices for a similar model. I'm definately not a Harley fan though so could be wrong. Weren't the last Indians sold around $35,000? One thing that may put a damper on the dealer network is something I read today, and that is if a dealer chooses to sell...

Worst car to change cabin filter on?

I must be living in the 60s still. Never heard of a cabin filter til 5 minutes ago, so I guess this job does not pertain to me most likely.

    Lets talk motorcycle grips.

Personally in 400,000 miles I've never found an aftermarket grip worth $0.02. I guess other guys have better luck. Even the worst factory grips beat the best aftermarket in the long run. My dad got those junk foam grips put on a Goldwing and after a couple years I might as well just have been...

    First bike 1979 Suzuki GS750

They were good bikes other than the electrics as mentioned. It can cost $300-$500 every 15,000 miles to keep one of them charging, and that was 30yrs ago. Hopefully parts still available or someone come up with a better system that lasts more than 15,000 miles each go around. I'd assume the...

    motorcycle brake pads.

In 45 years of street riding I've found 99% of the time you are better off staying with factory pads. I've found in the past as much as 3x faster wear using aftermarket, and a lot of times squeel. Couple that with rotor wear with aftermarket pads, I'll never take the chance again. There is lots...

Who's got some high mileage bikes??

Yea there are some guys that really rack the miles. Steve Short who is a retired guy who rarely ever posts anywhere, but has ridden the Iron Butt rally on a 2005 Goldwing, rode 280,000 miles in slightly over 4 years time on that bike. I figured it up to 175 miles a day average. That's some...

    valvoline 4t motorcycle oil

I use it sometimes, sometimes 15w40 rotella, sometimes 10w40 rotella T5, other times 10W30 rotella T5 in bikes that are ok to run 10W30. All these work fine and I can't tell $0.02 worth of difference except for sure 15W40 is no good in winter. I'd say if you want a decent oil rated for...

Who's got some high mileage bikes??

I have a 1978 Kawasaki KZ650 with 167,000 miles on it retired from duty about 15yrs ago so 167,000 in 20yrs, and a 1979 KZ1000MKII with 80,000 miles ridden in the 2 weeks I used it for trips in 8yrs time for the most part. These miles are nothing really. I thought I was riding a lot back in the 80s.

    owning multiple bikes

What do you guys that think one bike is enough do when you find your battery has gone bad and it won't start or have a flat tire? Go out and jump in the dumb car? I can't have that. I need at least two motorcycles just in case one is not ridable for any reason. Also keeping junk around can turn...

1982 Kawasaki KZ550C3 clutch release grease

I have a 1978 KZ650 with 167,000 miles on it and I've never lubed the clutch release yet. It's a grimey mess under the cover from chain lube that lubes everything more than enough.

    owning multiple bikes

I own 9. As dumb as that sounds, I guess it's remotely similar to a family that likes a lot of kids. I don't want any kids so I like my motorcycles and enjoy owning them. Having 2 motorcycles is pretty much the bare minimum required if you really love your riding. I could easilly live with two...

    Tundra tire options

P255 means it's a passenger car tire, not load range E. In 18" there are really limited selection. Goodyear silent armor should be a good choice.

When do you take off your winter tires?

I have my Blizzaks on a 1997 F350 and just leave them on year around. They've been on there for 7 or 8 years now, but that tells you how much I drive, which is minimal on it. I can't tell any difference in the feel over any other tire I've run in summertime or got any major wear from this sin.

Thinking about jumping back in--Ninja 1000?

I got a Yamaha Super Tenere and to me at least it's perfect. I'm tall, the bike has lots of room, gobs of torque from the twin, does everything I ask of it very well and is reliable as all heck from what I've read. I only have 6400 miles on it. I'm sure Multistrada would be faster, Suzuki...

    Battery Corrosion

If your cables are not properly tightened this will happen too. Clean the terminals, make sure your cables are tight, then spray with an aerosol battery terminal spray to keep it from happening. I forget what they call this spray, but it comes in around a 6 oz can and is made just for this...

Has anyone rebuilt their alternators themselves?

I just rebuilt my Ford 3G alternator from the 97 F350 Diesel. It went real smooth, cost $35 or so. I'm more confident keeping my original than I am buying a rebuilt that came from who knows where originally.

    New Honda CB1100

Yea the H2 could be one fast motorcycle. I was out at Fremont, CA in Aug of 81 at a NMRA national motorcycle drag race and met the late Dave Shultz riding Paul Gast's 72 H2 Prostocker and watched it run in the 8.8 second range. Down right amazing to me back then and still to this day. They had...

My H2 is a 74. I still have it, but returned it to stock. If I know how to post a picture here it is.
