Ford puts oil dye in all new engines( greenish color ) to check leaks. I would change oil in all new engines at about 1k. I did it with my 5.4l and found many metal shavings in factory fill oil.possible from crankshaft.

My choice would be Quaker State DELUXE 10w40 in the pretty metal can !!! My 68 buick lesbare 340cid loved it, and is probably still running like new..

what is added in these high mileage oils that regular conv.oils do not have ?? what brand oil is the best high mileage product ??

I have 1 qt.mobil 1 15w50, can i mix with 5 qt. mobil1 5w30 (new formula) My 2003 f-150 5.4l (6 qt.capacity) for spring/summer months. by the way wally world lowerd $ on 5 qt jugs of new M1 from $22.42 to $19.22 !!!!

Went to Wal-Mart and bought NEW MOBIL 1 5W30 GF-4 for $22.42 ( 5 qt. bottle ) Why the increase ??????

Ford recommends Motorcraft 10w30 diesel oil for temps. 0 f. and below. You might have to go to your local Ford dealer for that Motorcraft oil.

Does anyone have more info. on this?? I do know that it is made by Conoco...

I own a 2003 f-150 5.4, great truck !!! use M1 5w30 great oil !!! I suggest you do the same especially with a v-8 triton..

I own a 03 f-150 5.4l,that calls for 5w20. I use M1 5w30 and engine runs great!!! This winter I will use M1 0w30 (nov.-feb.) for better cold starting protection.

Motorcraft also makes a 5w20 full synthetic !!!

Stick with Mobil 1 5w30 !!!!!!!!

Sounds like a good mix....I have 2003 f-150 5.4 that has been on M1 5W30 (6 Qts. ) will add 1 qt.M1 15w50 next time,any other opinions????

the motorcraft 5w20 full syn. is very $$$ 6.79 per qt. part # xo-5w20-qsf and is avaliable at ford motorcraft wholesale distributors. any local ford dealer should be able to order it from them.
