    XD-3 0W-40 TOO THICK FOR 07 GM 6.0

You will have to find an esso distributer because only the 0w40 is available for retail. The 0w30 is what you want but I know you have to buy as a case lot.

    Pennzoil Platinum vs Boutique brands

I have just put some PP 5W30 in my 5.4l V8 and I have already noticed a slight decease in valvetrain noise. Overall for the price I paid, I think it is one of the best OTC oils you can find.

Finally! Syn for a really good price in Canada.

Just picked up some PP 5w30 at my local Walmart for just over $18 for 5 quart jug. That is an awsome price and it happens to be Bitog's favorite flavor at the present. 6 jugs will make a fine addition to my 4 jugs of Formula shell and 2 jugs of GTX. Time to do the happy dance.....lurking on...

    Redline synthetic gear oil

Will the esters in this oil help stop a very slow weep out of the pinion seal? I know an ARX treatment does stop seal leaks but it is a di-ester base....so would assume a poly-ester might do the trick as well. Opinions please.

    Engine Oil temp. 219 degrees.

My f150 with the 5.4l reads the same as yours. I put in some autometer gauges and my coolant sits between 180-190 and the oil is about 170-180. The oil my be slightly off due to the fact I put the sender unit at the bottom of the oil pan.....air flow could be causing the cooler temps.

Are all SM dino oils good for 5k OCI??

Are all SM dino oils good for 5k OCI??

It starts to darken at about 4000kms or 2400 miles, but it ever turns black....pretty close though. I just assume the oil is doing it's job for that matter.

Are all SM dino oils good for 5k OCI??

Calgary Alberta....It is on sale at my local Walmart, they also have the full synthetic at a very appealing price compared to other syns. The TDI had an ARX done to it a couple years back and when the timing belt was replaced my mechanic said the internals were in great shape. The one thing to...

Are all SM dino oils good for 5k OCI??

Are all SM dino oils good for 5k OCI??

Funny you should say that, I have noticed the prices of ST creaping up it and isn't that much of a savings compared to other house hold names. I have one jug of 5w20 GTX left for the winter fill, I'll give it another couple weeks of hunting for some deals, and if nothing catches my eye, I'll...

Are all SM dino oils good for 5k OCI??

Great! Not only do you guys (americans) get the bargains, but also the variety. I still haven't seen Havoline 5w20 up here yet and I know it has been around for ages....I doubt we'll see Maxlife 5W20 for some time, but that would be optimal for my truck and the weather conditions I see.

Are all SM dino oils good for 5k OCI??

Sorry to everyone, I did mean 5000 miles...I generally post in imperial due to fact that most members on this site are american. I have seen several UOA's and for the most part they are all some what good, but I am a flyer freak and when I see an oil on sale I start getting twitchy....I guess i...

Are all SM dino oils good for 5k OCI??

Just so happens it works out to two changes a year for my driving habits, one in the winter and early summer. My question, I use GTX 5W20/30 for my 5.4l and I assume it is pretty good oil for that matter, but I'm cheap, and when my stash is finally gone it will be time for the next stock-up on...

    4.10 to 3.08-possible?

ou have to take in consideration the load on the engine and not just think rpm's. Sure you will hold higher speeds at lower rpm's but what of other variables like head wind, inclines and such. The gas pedal will go down more often than that with 4:10's behind her. What type of tranny is behind...

    4.10 to 3.08-possible?

Most people go the other way to swap gears. 4:10's are way better for city driving and you will only slightly lose mpg's on the highway. BTW....you have a 9.75 inch rear, only superduties have the 10.25.
