    Lithium battery outdoor tools

I have the Dewalt 40v lineup. On sale now at a lot of places. Great for average Joe on a typical subdivision lot. Nice to put in it in the shed for 5 months during cold months, pull it out, put a charged battery in and up and running.

    How much is ethanol-free worth?

I get 100% gas for use in my small engines at home. Pressure washer, chainsaw, mowers, weed eater, chipper. As far as vehicles go, the 1991 volvo gets 100% gas once out of every 4-5 tanks, and all the other vehicles get the blend.

    Recommendation pls: 2004 5.3 Suburban, 200k miles

I have an '03 Suburban with 205K on the clock that I bought used 11 years ago with 30K on it. I've used M1 for 30k-50k, then used german castrol ever since, except for a few breakdowns in thought process. The GC went away for a brief period of time, at least around here and I tried others. Every...

Top 10 Vehicles that make it to 200,000 miles.

Problem with the list is that at six of them are really only two. Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL. Basically same vehicle. That's four on the list that should be one. Two are shorter, two are longer, but same guts. And then two more are the same. Silverado 2500 = Sierra 2500 with a badge...

M1 TDT Absolutely Stopped My 5.3L Cold Clacking.

I have found that GC 0w-30 from back in the day quieted the 5.3L quite a bit. When the old school GC 0w-30 was not available I used Mobil 1 5w-30 and regretted it. Loud loud loud on startup until warm. I moved to Edge 0w-40 and it's quiet once again.

oil extremely watery at last change

No, it was 5w-30 Pennzoil Platinum. Manual calls for 5w-30. To compare, my Suburban uses 5w-30 and it has never come out that thin. Here's my unofficial, non-scientific test...I loosen the drain plug with a ratchet and then remove by hand. When the plug comes out oil always gets all over my...

oil extremely watery at last change

Car - 2005 Mustang V6 with about 75K miles Oil - Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 Miles on oil - 6,100 Driving habits - mostly short (less than 15 minute) trips...but lots of them with the occasional 300 mile weekend excursion mixed in Issue - checked the oil the other day and the dipstick indicated...

    Fellow Maxima Owners Oil Selection

I have owned 2 VQ35 engines, a Maxima and a Quest, both purchased new, both owned until the 120K mark or so. They are hard on oil...until you find the sweet spot. I found out that Valvoline dino, maxlife or durablend was the best. It drank Mobil 1 and PP. Valvoline was the only one that was...

    OIl Recommendations - 04 GMC 5.3L with 132,000 mil

I have the same engine, only one year older with a few less miles on it. My experiences: 1. Mobil 1 EP 5w-30 - not a bad oil but the piston slap (which mine suffers from) was noticeable. Ran this for 8K. 2. Castrol 0w-30 (german made) - switched to this and it was wonderful. Piston slap almost...

Valvoline MaxLife vs. Pennzoil High Mileage

I've been using MaxLife in a 2005 Nissan 3.5L V6 that now has 102K and it has been the best oil for it to date. Everything else burned oil and I even had a scare or two with how low the levels were. Tried M1, pennzoil dino, pennzoil HM, havoline, pennzoil platinum, valvoline dino and the Maxlife...

    where did I go wrong

I just bought a white 1991 volvo that had about a thousand little black dots on it all over that would not come off with a regular wash job so here is what I did: 1. applied some clay bar elbow grease. It took about 3 hours but the spots were finally gone. 2. washed car with meguiars soap 3...

    Firestone Destination ->LE<- ?

I have them on a 1/2 ton suburban. I went 66,000 miles with the original Goodyear Wranglers. Tough to fairly compare tires with 66K on them driven into the shop and brand new tires with zero miles driven out of the shop, but after about 5K miles I have nothing but good things to say about the...

    2003 Suburban observations - Chevy 5.3L

I have an '03 'Burb now at 56K. I've never really been concerned with the whole piston slap thing. Every now and then I think it may be happening but I take into consideration that it is a V8, whereas the last 4 vehicles I owned and the other 2 vehicles I currently own are V6 engines and I would...

Not a good way to save on gas!

Any risk of using E85 in a vehicle with 150K on it that is a flex-fuel vehicle but has never had E85 in it before? I've got two vehicles capable of running E85, one with 150K and one with 55K but neither one has seen a drop of E85 due to lack of availability but that is changing soon.

Fuel filter change on 2003 flex-fuel Tahoe

I've got an '03 Suburban and mine is on the driver's side, more towards the rear half of the vehicle if I remember correctly. You also need a special tool for the connection.

Nissan's 3.5L recommendations changed, but why?

I've got a 2005 Nissan Quest with the 3.5L V6, VQ35DE. The manual specifically states that Nissan recommends "mineral based" oils. I looked up the manual for the 2006 model the other day on the Nissan website to reference something (they don't have the 2005 manual available online) and it does...
