Bosch DP vs Delco/Hengst Ecotec filter - pics

I ordered from RockAuto. I couldn't find any locally either so it was the easiest thing to do. Ordered a oouple to make it cost effective. When I remove the filter in a few months, I'll take some pics to see how it looks and whether it twists itself apart.

    07 Ford Freestyle Recommendation

I loved my Freestyle, miss it. 5th vehicle owned with a Duratec V6, still have the 4th. I ran Amsoil oil and filter at 6 month intervals, which to me averaged out to around 12,000kms and had no issues, the oil came oil pretty clean. My wife's Ecotec with similar OCI is much harder on its oil...

Bosch DP vs Delco/Hengst Ecotec filter - pics

Hello everyone. Thought I'd share some pics after buying my first Bosch Distance Plus cartridge filter for my wife's Ecotec motor. I've been buying Purolator PureOne and the Delco/Hengst filters back and forth and not overly pleased with the quality of either but this Bosch filter looks very...

Police getting irritated by HID lighting!

Police should perhaps enforce the colour-issue on HID users, same as they did with blue-tinted headlight bulbs 10+ years ago. They irritate my eyes when oncoming purely because of their tint. I run 4300k HIDs in my cars. They look like brighter versions of a normal headlight. I don't aim they...

    3800 series II

Hey Matt I used the German Castrol in my GTP before switching to Amsoil. It liked it. The Mobil 1 0w40 would also be a good oil but not sure if you'll be able to find it readily? The 04+ relief spring and valve I used to install with cammed cars that see over 6000 rpm shift points. Probably...

    Amsoil for a Porsche?

Price is not an issue, though I can buy Amsoil cheaper and conveniently. I haven't read yet (and I've been searching) that Amsoil AMO is a poor choice of oil because ... or This Porsche engine needs an oil that is particularly good at ... The suggestion that an HTHS over 4.0 would be a bad...

    Amsoil for a Porsche?

Thanks for all the replies and opinions thusfar. I popped into a local Walmart and a Canadian Tire and neither had Mobil 0w40. I doubt my father would have better luck living on Vancouver Island BC. I used the German Castrol for about 2 years before buying Amsoil; GC I had to hunt for and stock...

    Amsoil for a Porsche?

buster, I was just looking at the Redline site. Their 5w40 has an HTHS of 4.6 and a Noack of 6.x, pretty impressive!

    Amsoil for a Porsche?

AFL would be "proper" being certified I agree but HTHS, TBN and Noack are all behind the AMO. It just doesn't look very impressive for a 40 weight synthetic oil. The 10w40 XL line seems to have better numbers!

    Amsoil for a Porsche?

Hello everyone I've been a loyal Amsoil user for several years. My father just purchased himself a 2000 Boxster with the 2.7 6cyl engine and I always order oil for his vehicles. I've searched and seen a few postings on how the Amsoil 5w40 euro-spec oil definitely isn't the best oil they make...

Where to buy Purolator in Toronto Canada?

Hi all Anyone here from the GTA and knows where to buy Purolator PureOne oil filters? I have an Ecotec and want to try the PureOne oil filter since Amsoil doesn't make a cartridge filter. I just spent a half hour searching the internet and making a few phone calls and can't find anyone that...

    Doubting G-05's cooling ability

Hey everyone. I have a 1998 Grand Prix GTP, highly modified, and I run G-05 coolant in both my engine cooling system and my aftermarket water/air intercooling system. I normally run customers on simple Prestone but I run mine and one other on G-05 to test out and we've noticed potentially poor...

    German Syntec in Northstars/LS1s?

I'll put some GC in the STS this week, get rid of the Mobil 1 mix currently in there which definitely I don't like anymore. The engine is very noisey at cold startup in our current temps. I'm close to trying GTX HM in it cause our 3.8 Trans Sport van loves it so much but since its winter I'll...

    German Syntec in Northstars/LS1s?

I also like keeping our STS between the add mark and 1/3 up the normal range, which is roughly 7 litres. I've added nearly 8 litres in the past to get it to the full mark on the dipstick BTW didn't see the O and the G at the end of your user names, I thought it was one person talking to...

    Syntec 10-30

I use the German Castrol Syntec 0w30 in my 3.8 SC 1998 Grand Prix and it performs very nicely, I'm a converted Mobil 1 user. If you search for german syntec, you'll see how it differs from the other viscosity Syntecs I use GTX High Mileage in my fathers 3.8 Trans Sport van with good success...

    German Syntec in Northstars/LS1s?

Oh don't even get me started on Northstars burning oil, the pride of GM and its little secret Our first engine was replaced under extended warranty at 60,000miles after its oil consumption got to a litre every 1000 miles Our new engine has 40,000miles on it now and its thankfully holding up...

    German Syntec in Northstars/LS1s?

Hey everyone. I'm looking for some insight on German Syntec being run in the Northstar and LS1 engines. Has anyone tried the oil in these engines, any feedback? My parent's car is a 96 STS with a Northstar. I've been using Mobil 1 SS in it this year with decent success, mixed 5:2 5w30:15w50 but...

    Hard driving = thicker oil?

Hello everyone. I've got a fresh batch of German Castrol Syntec in my trunk but I'm having second thoughts of putting it in suddenly. With the fact that I'll be going to the track several times and also on the dyno to PCM tune in the next month or so, and I drive my 1998 GTP fairly brisk on a...
