I have a big stash of 5L jugs of GTX with a case of single quarts of havoline to top of the oil when I change it.You open up the Castrol and it smells like..well...what oil should smell like I guess, but the havoline really has a pungent odor to it. What gives? The add pack maybe!? Is it normal?

Have you ever considered to just chip it or put a tuner without the shift kit? Mines been "chipped" and I did notice quite a difference in the shifting points, it has become more stiffer and the rev points have increased. Just a thought considering the amount of money it will take with the kit...

I ran a 5w30 Castrol Syntec bend for the good old Canadian winters and Rotella dino in the summer, never had a problem with it....but as stated before, these 300's will run forever regardless of what old you put in there.

Consider yourself lucky to be able to get chevron 5w20 and at such a great price...up here in Alberta you can't find that stuff or the Havoline 5w20. I'm hearing those oils are cream of the crop for dino.

Nonsense. Valvoline Maxlife ATF is acceptable for use in Mercon-V applications. There are two versions of the Maxlife ATF, a stop leak one and a regular one. Quick lubes use the latter. Maybe for you. My question is do you have one of these transmissions or are you just throwing that out there...
