    M1 EP vs AMSOIL signature

Before you decide that either one can do 1 yr/ 10K, a little more information is in order. When you say short trips, what do you mean? 1 mile to work, 5 miles to work, 10 milest to work? We have seen UOAs of some pretty stout oils where the TBN is exhausted after as little as 3000 miles with...

    Maxlife or Motorcraft?

There are significant differences between Mercon, Mercon V, Mercon SP, and Mercon LV. I would never trust a fluid that claims to be a substitute for two or more of them.

Use what the manufacturer recommends, especially if it's still under warranty.

I have a few questions about synthetic oil

If you are going to do 3K OCIs, PYB and an OCOD are all you need. Anything else is overkill and a waste of oil/time/money.

We've got two Vizio's and have had them for 2-3 years. No complaints.

    2011 Toyota Corrola

You are being over reaction. Follow Toyota's recommendations. Especially if you are using Toyota 0W-20, which is an excellent oil.

Best method for testing oil for uoa?

Depending on the engine, break-in could take up to 30,000 miles. Unless it is a diesel. Then it could take up to 50,000 miles. Any UOAs done before 20,000 miles will likely be clouded by break-in wear.

    Why run a 0-20 instead of a 0-30 Oil?

"As thin as possible, as thick as necessary." Those differences in TBN are not significant and have nothing to do with wear protection.

Current OBJECTIVE 100% Synthetic Comparison Data?

Really, the only data that would let you make an OBJECTIVE comparison is actual API and GF test data. VOA's give SOME indication of the differences, but are not very granular.

    High speed, no brain

I've done 130-140 MPH many times in BMWs and Porsches on the German Autobahn. Stupidest thing I've done is 105 MPH on a Harley-Davidson on I-35.

    older engine,sludge,new oils etc

My mom had a late 70s Thunderbird. It showed the "Vega effect". When you wanted to pass someone, the transmission would shift down, the engine would rev loudly and you'd slowly gain speed, sedately passing them. In other words, a real dog and an absolute misuse of the Thunderbird designation.

I have not seen any conventional oil that can beat the additive pack in PYB. If I were going to run conventional oil, PYB would be my choice.
