I came across a very well kept Acura RL with 58k miles. All service records and in beautiful shape.
One issue is the way the transmission downshifts and up shifts.
It is not smooth at all and has a rubbery feel to describe it best with a jerk.
It looks like the owner did a drain and refill...
Yes, Matic D was pretty much Dex III. I wouldn't use Dex VI in this application as I believe the viscosity is thinner. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Use fluid that states compatible with Matic-D on the bottle. There are many choices. The ones I listed above are all excellent.
I would do a drain and refill 2 more times. I also have a Maxima that requires Matic-D. I have used in the past Matic-D a few times when I initially bought the car, then used Mobil1 ATF Full Synthetic and for the last 4-5 drain and refills have been using Amsoil ATF. A lot of people have had...
Look into Blaupunkt head unit's. It will sound much cleaner than your current unit and may match your European dash a little better than other aftermarket brands.
Feel free to switch to synthetic with no ill effects. Most synthetics sold in stores are group III oil so there should not be any worries about it leaking after the switch.
It's an old myth that switching between dino and synthetic is harmful for the engine.
I've switched many cars over to...
A lot of manufactures incorporate these "fog lights' as part of packages and are mostly for show. Some of these so called fog lights aren't even defined properly. In truth, they are actually "driving lights" due to their beam pattern and not at all true fog lights. True fog lights should be...
Toyota Avalon-extremely comfortable, roomy and plenty of power on tap when needed, Infiniti M35X (pre-owned), Accord CrossTour-The wagon feel may make you feel it's a bit more roomy inside and comes with all wheel drive, Lexus GS350 AWD (pre-owned).
I would give your brakes some time until they bed in. Rear brakes do little braking compared to the front brakes and usually take longer to bed in.
I would also do a complete brake flush or at least bleed each caliper.
There are a few cars I would like to siphon gas out of the gas tanks and into a fuel canister for storage. I would also like to have the same tool pump the fuel into another vehicle. Both the siphon tool and pump for pumping the siphoned fuel into another vehicle can be two different tools. I...
Still having this issue with it cranking but not catching. Every time I find time to get it diagnosed, it works fine. I'm thinking ignition switch...
Any thoughts?
The mysterious no crank issue has not shown itself since the first and only time it did this after which the original post was...
Thanks for the info and photo.

Research also shows that this could be something with fuel delivery but no crank means a separate issue all together so I'd like to exclude the fuel pump or anything to do with the fuel rail all together.
1999 Nissan Maxima Automatic Transmission 165k miles
In the mornings, I have no issues starting the car but if the car is driven, shut off for a few minutes to get gas or if I have to run into the store, it tends to crank long before it catches and sometimes does not catch at all at which point...
These Si's are sweet for their class and love to rev. However, even this engine will have more wear if always driven this way. Oil burning, leaking seals and lower compression is not uncommon when driven in this manner.
