I agree 100%. They hit it out of the park with the 2nd gen "new" Charger. It's a much more cohesive and organic design compared with the first version. I think they look fantastic. And from what I read, they perform as well as they look.

Just don't Google Acura Transmission problems. As late as 2005 Honda/Acura couldn't build a reliable automatic transmission. Lots and lots of issues and recalls.

Exactly. Drive a bunch and buy what you like. You really can't buy a truly bad car any more.

Hadn't thought about that, good choice there. Or even take a look at a new Lacrosse or Regal.

Both are very nice car`s.

Goal:
maybe $35,000 more or less. more or less.
car can be new, or certified used.
4 door sedan and roomy, with some power. luxury category.
possible all wheel drive. appeals to me, never had it.
would like something reasonably dependable, i work full time

Avalon fits every criteria except all-wheel drive.

Well, that's true, I suppose. However if you like boring I suppose it's okay.

"Fun to drive" wasn't on the list of OP's requirements. Typically, the more fun to drive it is, the less reliable/dependable it is also.

I don't think that's necessarily the case, but I see the point. Personally in the range he is looking for, I'd look at a Taurus SHO, or a G35. I'd probably get the G35. I do love those cars.

They're nice cars, but again, they don't meet his requirement. He's looking for a big car (on the inside), bigger than Accord. G35 is not it.

M35 may be a bit bigger and the new generation is also nice looking.

Toyota Avalon-extremely comfortable, roomy and plenty of power on tap when needed, Infiniti M35X (pre-owned), Accord CrossTour-The wagon feel may make you feel it's a bit more roomy inside and comes with all wheel drive, Lexus GS350 AWD (pre-owned).

If we're considering the Avalon, why not a 303hp Buick LaCrosse?

I still prefer the Taurus' styling but the Buick is really attractive and apparently, for the first time in awhile, GM has actually introduced a Buick that does not drive like a big soggy sponge.

My dad has an 06 Avalon. No trouble so far 86k. Its long, with the largest back seat legroom on any late model car I've seen.

I agree with the Taurus.....or how about the Flex with the sho drivetrain?

Plenty of room!!
