    New windows: cost opinion?

Signed on the dotted line this morning to have 3 windows replaced in our place: 2x: 57"x57" single sliders and 1x: 100"x57" 1/4-1/2-1/4 double slider. I probably should have asked around first, but how does this sound: $11.5k OTD price includes the triple-pane, argon filled, low-e windows with...

KYB quick structs for Lexus ES

Not to hijack the OP's post, but I can't be the only one that's curious: how did your Enclave handle after installing the B6's? Those Lambda stablemates all handle like giant bowls of jello in stock form, even with new dampers.

What are you working on today?

LR caliper on my Regal decided to call it quits, so I ordered up a brand new OE unit from RA. $72 shipped, and it arrived overnight!

What are you working on today?

Swapped the radio in my '12 for one out of a '11. The earlier radio's support DVD playback and utilize an internal HDD for map storage and music storage. It can even record live radio for later listening. I programmed the unit with my new VCX Nano and a Win 10 laptop. GM's online SPS...

    2011 Grand Cherokee steering rack

I wish I could remember with confidence, but I do remember something from Identifix that shaved time off considerably. Lifting the engine sounds right, but you may still have to drop the differential.

Any idea who makes Driveworks Serpentine Belts for AAP?

Hopefully you aren't expecting any actual gains from running a shorter belt. The AC compressor only draws engine power when the clutch is engaged. Otherwise, it's no different than a giant idler pulley. You will gain nothing, aside from a lighter wallet and wasted time.

    Sony TV warranty claim success!

Just a quick follow-up: the delivery went smooth as silk. I had the old TV boxed in its original packaging as I wanted to keep the new packaging (as I always do). Took about an hour to get the firmware updated and apparently set up, but I must say I'm thrilled with the picture quality. My...

New style of cheap cabin air filter

Likely has both a fresh air filter and a recirculation filter. I didn't even know this was a thing until I started working at Deere: all the farm equipment uses a 2-filter setup like that. The recirc filter is MUCH smaller, about the size of an automotive cabin filter, however the fresh air...

    Post your latest parts purchase

Picked up a new EGR valve for the Caddy from RA. I'm still chasing an occasional rough idle when warm and the old EGR valve looked... Questionable. $19 on closeout was a no-brainer. I was pleased to see "Made in USA", looks like it had a manufacturing date of April '06. I'll probably get the...

    Post your latest parts purchase

Mom is coming out this weekend and texted me asking if we could finally do something about the headlights on her 2009 Mazda6. Ive been battling bad pigtails and water intrusion in both assemblies, all in an effort to avoid buying $700 complete units. Anyway, I did some more digging to see if I...

    Rams with 4.7

There's nothing wrong with a well-maintained 4.7. My last WJ had over 250k on it's 4.7 and only used a quart every 3k miles. Our current 178k mile WJ also runs extremely strong and uses little oil.

    Sony TV warranty claim success!

I could have purchased a Geek Squad protection plan, but I chose not to. I got the full 1 year manufacturer warranty with the open box, starting from the date of purchase. I also charged the original purchase to my Chase Sapphire Preferred, which affords an extra year of warranty coverage...

    Sony TV warranty claim success!

This past Saturday I was plopped in front of my 6 month old Sony OLED when, out of the blue, the display turned powered down followed by 5 red blinks from the LED. BUMMER! A quick Google confirmed the worst: 5 blinks is a TCON error (power board). For reference, the set was manufactured December...

    Just Rolled in....

Man I'm glad I got out of consumer automotive... We had a hoarder customer at my last shop, drove a Chevy Avalanche and the only windows you could see out of were the windshield and driver's side. The entire cabin and truck bed were filled to the brim with trash. Eventually, I refused to work...

    New tool thread

UPS dropped off my new toy: Milwaukee 1/2" mid-torque with 2x 6.0aH batteries and charger. Can't wait to try it out on Monday!

What are you working on today?

Installing a Strut Masters conversion kit on the neighbor's '07 XJ8. I'm not sure why they're having me do the swap, the air suspension works just fine other than the front end stuck high one time. I guess the owner just doesn't feel like dealing with it down the road.

What are you working on today?

More likely made by Gabriel. They've made AZ's shocks forever. I just got done installing the second pair of Gabriel Ultra Truck shocks on our '02 Grand Cherokee (originals had 175K+) and I've been very happy with them. I do tow a small 4x8 trailer that occasionally gets loaded to ~1700 lbs...

What are you working on today?

Couldn't agree more, Cline. The trans is original to the car ('79 date code on the tag) and shifts exactly how a TH400 should. The emissions choked 425 certainly won't win any drag races, but man is it smooth. With the factory 2.28 rear end, it turns like 1600 RPM @ 60 MPH. Just wafting along.

What are you working on today?

I dug through all my bolt bins at the house! I don't have a lot of spare hardware at home, unfortunately. I do save all the nuts and bolts I can, however!

What are you working on today?

Replaced the Cadillac's 45 year old transmission mount with a closeout $2.46 DEA/Marmon mount from RA. Made in Korea, looked just fine until I went to install it and noticed that the cross member mounting stud threads looked... Off. Sure enough, the original nut (M10-1.5 I'd guess) didn't fit...
