Mom is coming out this weekend and texted me asking if we could finally do something about the headlights on her 2009 Mazda6. Ive been battling bad pigtails and water intrusion in both assemblies, all in an effort to avoid buying $700 complete units.
Anyway, I did some more digging to see if I could figure out why the 09-10 assemblies are $700+ per pair when the 11-13 assemblies looked identical in the pictures yet only cost $280 per pair. Turns out, all Mazda changed was the high beam bulb type, it went from an H11 to a 9005. Everything else is the same, right down to the main connector. Well shoot, I can handle that!
Ordered up a pair of 2011+ headlight assemblies, a pair of Philips Xtreme Vision Pro 150's for the low beams, a cheapo set of 65w 9005 high beams, a pair of 9005 pigtails and two new caps with o-rings to seal the low's. Came to a $350 for everything, and I shouldn't have to deal with it ever again.
