Signed on the dotted line this morning to have 3 windows replaced in our place: 2x: 57"x57" single sliders and 1x: 100"x57" 1/4-1/2-1/4 double slider. I probably should have asked around first, but how does this sound:

$11.5k OTD price includes the triple-pane, argon filled, low-e windows with a lifetime transferable warranty on everything. That's a set-in-stone price, if they find more issues during the window replacement they take care of it.

I'm sure I could have done them for closer to $7.5k, but I like the peace of mind this affords us. Did we get totally robbed? As many of you know, I'm a DIY guy all the way, so having any kind of "work" done by someone other than myself or my FIL is outside my normal comfort zone. Don't hold back, I can take the heat!

Edit: These are insulated vinyl windows, made to spec by SoftLite in Ohio.

What brand are the windows? A friend of mines fil worked for Hunter Douglas for years and from my understanding they're one of the best. I would have got an appraisal from at least three installers, and asked about the warranty, repairs etc.

Oh and depending on where you live having them made locally is a huge plus. According to a number of installers if the windows are made at sea level then shipped and installed at high altitude that will compromise the seal.

Sorry about the missing info! Duh. They're foam-insulated vinyl, SoftLite brand windows made to spec for this particular company (leaving the installer's name out for sake of simplicity). We're in WI and the windows are made in OH, so not "local" but still made in the Midwest.

I have a 3high pipe staging out side my bedroom window. Wed, my finish carpenter.biker, vegan younger brother is gonna do the smart stuff involved in hanging the right casement sash on a set of butt hinges. Too late in my game to update my windows a 3rd time. Teeth, hearing aids, and a vision tweak is where I'm putting the money

I have no clue if you got a deal or not but I hate my junky Jeld-Wens and look forward to the day I can replace them all, minus the expense of course.

Dang Jeld-Wens melted my pool cover, artificial turf and pool furniture.

Let us know how you like them after they’re installed.
