    Hatco oil distributor?

What are you guys using this in, fleet service folks for corporate jets? I buy some hatco basestock products for my formulations and have been seriously impressed with them, although very expensive. Over the years I've dealt mostly with Richard Kelley, very nice guy.

'03 Dodge Ram, '02 Durango, both with 4.7L engine

Why would the filter be a contributing factor? What filter would make a difference and why? The only other filters available that I have seen are the STP, Bosch, Walmart ones, AC Delco, Fram and I think Wix. I thought that the Purlator filters were well regarded for solid construction, good...

'03 Dodge Ram, '02 Durango, both with 4.7L engine

I have the above mentioned vehicles, ram has about 96K on it and the durango has about 60K. Regular oil changes at roughly 3-4K. Both engines have an annoying lifter tap at startup, ram started it about 20K ago, durango started tapping recently. Tapping goes away very soon (about 30 seconds) on...

    Profits moving into exploration ?

There has been several financial news stories over the last couple of years about a large percentage of the oil companies record profits are being used to buy back outstanding stock. This is going on industry wide.

    Oil and gas prices dropping

Don't get me going on gasahol. From what I've experienced, 10% ethanol in gasoline, increases my fuel consumption about 15% in my two Dodge trucks and a touch more than 10% in my subcompact. Remove all forms of alcohol from gasolines, backdate refinery technology to make highly efficient...

    Oil and gas prices dropping

I do'nt post here much but I read around once in a while. About running out of resources, that is in my opinion a false opinion based on gov't and large corp misinformation. Here's why I say that, I retired from the military 2 years ago and spent plenty of time in the middle east, kuwait, iraq...

Oil Related Failures? Anyone Know of Any?

I've had several oil related failures. Granted it was under other than easy conditions and all in two stroke engines. I own and operate a small specialty fuel and lubricant company that caters strictly to the radio control hobbies; airplanes, cars, boats etc... Needless to say, I do a lot of...

    03 Ram w/ 4.7 L, which oil now?

Got an '03 Dodge Ram wit a 4.7 in it and manual trans. I'm currently running RL 5W-30 and am satisfied. Oil has been synthetic since I dumped factory fill at 1500 miles, usually Havoline synthetic, sometimes MI and just recently RL, everthing has always been 5W-30. Now I have 40,000 on it...

For you Redline users, do you like it?

I tried the RL 5W-30 in my 03 Ram with a 4.7L and manual trans. In the engine, I was using Havoline Synthetic 5w-30 previously. Factory fill in the manual trans. Truck only had about 28,000 on it when I tried the Red Line in both the engine and RL "MTL" in the transmission. (I use Purolator...

    Redline 5-30 3348 miles Dakota 4.7 Issues

I have an '03 Ram with a 4.7 and manual tranny. I have the foamy stuff in the filler neck quite a bit too, but I've never seen it get bad enough to turn the oil off color when I change it. I'm sure there is excess moisture in the oil, so I do frequently look at the oil on the dipstick to check...

97 Chev Blazer V-6, Any oil related issues??

Just bought a used 97 Blazer with V-6, auto, 4x4 with 100K on it. I changed the oil to one of my favorites, Citgo 5W-30 from the valvoline 10W-30 that was in there year round according to previous owner. He did routine 3K OCI's and never indicated a problem. Regular 30K ATF Flushes, without...

Sam's Club Dex III any good?

The bottles and cases just say Dextron III / Mercon ATF, Period. On the back, it says distributed by Sam's West. Looks like the old mobil bottle or the citgo bottles.

Sam's Club Dex III any good?

Need to change the Dex III and filter in my 3/4 ton chevy van. Sams had it for about a $1.00 per quart, just wondered if it was any good. Also, what makes ATF and ATF? Curious about what is in it. Fuelman

    ATF in the motor oil

Thanks I figured it sounded a little too much like an old wives tale without anything backing it up.

    ATF in the motor oil

I have heard that the best detergent to use in an engine is ATF. An old local mechanic buddy of mine said it will disolve varnish and keep the ring lands and lifters nice and clean. He recomended one quart of ATF and 4 quarts of a quality motor oil (he likes Motorcraft or Citgo) in an oil change...

driving hard/high RPMs on cold engine/oil??

I'm not sure if theis applies to this or not, but I've twisted the oil pump drive shaft on big block Ford 390's and 428's drag racing them before the engine was fully up to temp. I was running 120 lbs plus in oil pressure cold, around 100 lbs hot. Proplems stopped when I would get the engine up...

Is this a good price on Penzoil and Citgo oil

Today while running errands, I saw Penzoil 5w-20 and 5w-30 Synthetic Blend "Plus" oil at Big Lots for $1.79 per quart. Thay had a ton of it in Battle Creek MI. I've been reading lots of posts here that are very favorable towards Penzoil products so I thought this may be of interest to you all, I...

    Lucas fuel system stuff-?????

I bought some of the Lucas Fuel System Cleaner, the stuff that you are suposed to add 3 oz per 10 gallons of gasoline. Well, I've used a full quart so far in two vehicles, a 95 chevy van with a 350 and 112K miles and an 03 Dodge Ram with a 4.7 and 30K on it. Two things I noticed after two tanks...

    Interesting article on ethanol

Everybody keeps forgetting about hydro and wind as an energy source for generating electricity. Yes, this is off topic a bit. Where I was origonaly from, sev eral small northern towns had hydroelectric powerplants on the small rivers and provided cheap and clean electricity. In the mid 70's, the...
