Congratulations on your new truck.
Best to just stop in at the dealer and get OEM oil and filter for the first few changes. Keeps the mothership happy and buys you time to decide what brands you intend to use for the lifetime of the vehicle…
I have many Amish mills in my neighborhood and many are running Amsoil 10-40 AMO in their Kubota diesel engines, as well as in most Honda small engines.
Ok, it happens. But no change in recommendations then?
My suggestion,
I would go heavier like the 5-40 DEO or 0-40 DZF. I’m sure it’s stinking hot there most days…
Might be a good idea to go to a heavier grade….0W/5W30 and see if the oil consumption decreases. None the less, hard to fault the oic interval with these high mileage numbers
ls lq4 with 418k What engine is this in? What are you doing to get the oil consumption “under control “? High mileage tho…
The AMO 10w40 has great ZDDP numbers of 1265 ppm P and 1378 ppm Z.
What’s wrong with the dealers oil? I mean, I like to run Amsoil in my stuff. But if the machine still has warranty supporting the dealer now will likely have them in your corner if any issues arise…😉
I’m not sure what you’re saying here. They’re small filters and even with the anti drain gasket there wouldn’t be much more than a couple or 3 tablespoons of oil held inside. Did you actually see if the anti drain gasket had tension against the housing…?
So you’re running an oil that works pretty well, as shown by the UOA above. Now when you go to track it you’re going to run a different oil? Why not run the same Amsoil and compare how tracking will affect the oil, compared to just grocery getting?
Why did you even bother doing a UOA…inquiring...
Split most of next year’s wood this week. Mostly ash with some hickory and maple thrown in. 20 something years old splitter. Amsoil out Amsoil in, every other year oil change. 😉
Amsoil Sabre (mixed at 40 or 50:1) Please stop mixing it at 100:1!
What? Been mixing Sabre at 100:1 for 30 years or more. My Stihl Pro saws and leaf blower rip with it…😆
WX57035 is a great alternative…premium filter.
Run it for 2 seasons if your family wants cheap 🥴
Verify fitment
ps….below I copied from another thread
“ On the other hand, if you're considering a 57035, might I suggest instead a Wix 51056 as an alternative. Essentially the same size filter (the...
Well that’s some important information that you left out in your initial post. My suggestion?…..take it in for a full flush/service at a shop with techs that are more qualified than you 😉
