Hello everyone. I recently just joined and have tried my best to comb through some of the already existing forums but there are just too many and I don't have enough hours in the day. Learning a lot as well but I just want to get straight to the point and hopefully you knowledgable folks can help. I'm going to do my first break in oil change on my 2025 Toyota Tundra at 750 miles. Trying to do preventative care and hope the engine doesn't blow up on me down the road lol. What oil and oil filter should I get? Planning on doing the next change around 1500-2000 miles. I've heard mixed opinions and even things like certain manufacturers have gone down in build quality recently on their oil filters that a lot of people used to like and use so it seems the more I research, the more I become unsure. Thanks for reading this long post and beating this dead horse.

Full synthetic oil and a good filter.

I recommend the following break-in oil changes:
1) 150
2) 850
3) 2000
4) 3500
5) 5000

Since your vehicle has a Turbo, I would only use Full Synthetic oil during the break-in period, if you follow the above, you will wash out break-in material sooner rather than later.

I recommend and personally use the following break-in oil change routine for all the engines I rebuild:
1) 0
2) 500
3) 1500
4) 3000
5) 5000

Thanks for the interval recommendation! Would you perhaps have any recommendation on brand for oil and oil filters? Not sure what's good to use. Since the intervals are shorter, would it be better to use a high efficiency filter since it'll be changed sooner than later in this application?

brand isn't going to be relevant, especially for a Toyota.

Since you have a Turbo, you can do the cheapest European-rated oil, Castrol Extended Performance 0w20 had the Mercedes certification, I am not sure if that is still available at Walmart.

for warranty purposes, which oil weights are you able to use? according to your owner's manual

Is there something special about European rated oil? Still new to all this stuff.

And I can only use 0w-20 and 5w-20.

for break-in oil changes 2 through 4 use SuperTech Advance Full Synthetic 0w20 because it is $19.98.

Starting with the 5th oil change that you will run for 5000 miles, you can use Valvoline Restore & Protect 0w20 every 5000 miles until the warranty period is finished then switch to a thicker weight. any 30 or 40-weight oil.

Seriously? Five oil changes by 5,000 miles? If you want to go crazy, change the oil at 1,000 miles with a full synthetic and use an OEM filter. After that, change at every 5,000 miles with a full synthetic and use whatever filter you want. I have been doing that for twenty years and 342,000 miles and the engine still runs great with minimal oil usage.

Edit: I use Mobil 1 in all of my cars.

Terrible math there...

I recommend the following break-in oil changes:
1) 150 - Mileage on vehicle = 150
2) 850 - Mileage on vehicle = 1,000
3) 2000 - Mileage on vehicle = 3,000
4) 3500 - Mileage on vehicle = 6,500
5) 5000 - Mileage on vehicle = 11,500

it is so you can get most of the break-in material out of the engine...

If you’ll sleep better at night a 1,000 mile oil change is fine.. 5,000 mile oci with a GF-6 or latest Dexos cert. stick with toyota recommendation on viscosity and with an oe filter.

Congratulations on your new truck.
Best to just stop in at the dealer and get OEM oil and filter for the first few changes. Keeps the mothership happy and buys you time to decide what brands you intend to use for the lifetime of the vehicle…
