Hello everyone,

Friend of mine just got his UOA test. Amsoil 5W30 diesel bottle was used. The car is bought new and the mileage is 170K kms. The OEM oil filter is changed regularly every 20K kms. The Sorento has both EGR and DPF.
My friend lives in Saudi Arabia meaning hot climate and high sulfur in their diesel.

Fe at 6.061/1k & Al high, surprisingly the Si is low. 41 Soot is getting really close to a severe level. Oil itself doesn't seem to be quite toast yet though. Good run (18,641 US miles) Possibly still breaking in & with the extended ODI=high readings.

My friend concerned about the high level of iron and aluminum. Any advice?
I would continue as planned and next sample will tell us which way things are headed. It is a lower mileage engine and that usually correlates with high metals. Run another oil interval again and post back next sample. Do not panic.

In the opening post I read the mileage as 170000 Kms….🥴

It happens, the title reads 30k kms so that's what I went with. Little confusing since OP mentioned the oil filter itself is changed every 20k but that's the filter, not the oil. Then total miles are 170k on engine. Lot's of numbers! 😅

Ok, it happens. But no change in recommendations then?
My suggestion,
I would go heavier like the 5-40 DEO or 0-40 DZF. I’m sure it’s stinking hot there most days…
