This is the first I've actually seen it myself, the NAPA website had no listings last I checked. I'm totally fine with a bay-box and actually prefer it but I expect some savings over quart / gallons / etc. Right now I can't justify 3x the price of Walmart or Costco for engine oil. Maybe 1.5-2x?

Absolutely, but I often neglect doing a proper fluid flush during service. If I just refresh the reservoir it's better than nothing and easy to do. Maybe it buys me an extra year?

Drain and fill the reservoir with each oil change helps keep it fresh.

Yes and no. Filtering efficiency is affected by fluid velocity which is affected by the filter media type and area. Increasing the area (larger filter) should improve filtering efficiency.

The answer is still yes. You can find "better" that is going to be more expensive but it's much easier to find "worse". Valvoline has a long standing reputation and I've found no reasons to think that has changed. The PDS link is towards the bottom of this page...

Most of what you see is metal (the dark / black). The magnets will be covered in black, metal paste and the pan will probably be coated as well. Changing the fluid and filter does not bring back the filtering efficiency of the magnets.
