At least since 1995, changing oil on my 1990 Mustang GT and remember looking into Mobil 1 oil filters. I decided to stick with Fram or Napa back than. Now I only stick exclusively to Puralator or OEM

Running just past 213,000 miles.
Averaging right around 27 MPG
I ran Mobil 10w30 last summer
Switched to 0w30 GC during the winter
Now running Castrol GTX 5w30 and I am going to stick with 5w30.
I'd suggest sticking with a good oil filter...

Gosh how I wish my local AZ had Green. My first couple of weeks on boitg I went to 8 local stores to find the Green stuff. Zilch, Nada, Zip, Nothing, ZERO!! Looks like all of NYC metro is dried up.

This the second time I've read "this sludge proned engine". I used to own a TT and honestly I have never heard this motor to be sludgy. Either way I love the 1999-2001.4 A4's. I'd love to pick up a used one, in the 1.8T quattro 5speed trim.
I don't think mixing will a problem. However I would recommend against it if you plan on doing a UOA, only because you won't know exactly what properties are from what oil.
