Last year, I switched our 2002 Honda Odyssey currently at 108K to synthetic (Mobil 1) at 96K. No oil leaks or consumption issues to date. Before then it was on a diet of any conventional oils at 5K intervals.
The general consensus is that the problem resolves around the A/C compressor clutch assembly and possibly the compressor itself. I'm not car mechanic nor a serious DIYer who tears apart car on the weekends, so I'll call around shops and dealership and see how much this will cost her. She and I...
First, thanks everyone for all the feedback. Everything on the car is stock and the fuse blows only when the A/C is on, which never occured before plugging that GPS which is causing her all this trouble. The GPS was her friend's and due to this incident, she will never plug any aftermarket gps...
Hello, fellow DIYers. I have a friend who drives a '97 Toyota Avalon (with 150K miles). While using a Garmin GPS device in the cigarette lighter socket, the fuse blew and caused her center media console to shut down including her radio and A/C. I told her that it was no big deal and to replace...
I also own an 05 G35 (Coupe) and I recently changed the air filter at 25K. It was the worst I've ever seen. There was black "gunk" roughly one square inch that accumulated on the lower right corner (towards the left turn signal). Generally, I change the air filters at 30K and they are dirty but...
I use the same filters (Supertech 7317 and PurolatorOne 14610) on my 04 Accord V6, 05 Maxima and 05 G35 Coupe. In my opinion there is no need to buy oem filters...as they're usually overpriced for what you get.
Chinee, thanks a lot. I haven't seen too many G reports so I'm looking forward to it. I have an 05 AT @ 21K and I've been using only synthetics (except for break-in period), Mobil or ST Syn at 5K OCIs.
Yeah, they've always been 2.07 but they're not always in stock (someimes 3 weeks at a time) so at ~2 bucks a piece...not a bad idea to have a small stash so they're always available and you don't have to wait in those long lines.
I've read on another post that people should buy oil on a need basis. Do you guys think the prices will eventually come down in general? That is without coupons, rebates, etc.
I have a 04 Accord (bought 1/04) with 83K now. It's had synthetics from 30K with 7.5K OCIs. Since I have 5 quarts of the free Maxlife, I was thinking about putting that in for 3-4K to possibly "clean" the engine or getting rid of some varnish that might be present since I've read that it might...
25 minutes from jacking up the car to clean up. This will be quicker once I get some Rhino ramps, I hate using the jack unless it's absolutely necessary.
I used to spend up to 20 minutes struggling with the oil filter that I always put on too tight but now it takes 15 seconds, once I invested...
Thanks for the replies... I'll just have to wait until they get these babies in. They are the green formula, btw. I was thinking about using the G-05 in the 04 Accord @90K (currently with 81K) since it's out of warranty but I guess I should just stick to the OEM stuff, and do it when I change...
