LOL, I hear ya. My oldest daughter just got her learner's permit. I'm a control freak in a vehicle, so that's a new kind of fear. Wasn't sure my heart was going to hold out.
LOL, yea, my daughter has been driving with her learners permit for about 6 months, it is a hard thing to sit in the passenger seat. Not that she is a bad driver (still working on lane positioning and the fear of oncoming traffic), but it is just I like to drive, not necessarily a control thing, I just like driving and get car sick pretty easily as a passanger.
I always drive when with my mom, but my daughter says she still drives well (except she got into her first accident in 76 years last week, a minor one though).
My mother-in-law needs it now, we are getting ready to do an intervention with her to get her car away from her. She got lost the other day in her own neighborhood. Luckily her daughter live close and was able to get to her with the find my phone app and got her home. We are going to get her to try Uber for the times somebody is not able to bring her where she needs to go to show her she does not need the expense of a vehicle, as well as for her and others safety.
I think by the time I get to the 70 yr old range, I might be OK with a self driving option (or semi-self driving at least).
My wife is ready now, she hates to drive.
Yep, same here. Went driving with my daughter the other day. Wife was in the passenger seat and I was stuck in the back. The back seat is WORSE!
This has me thinking.....some of us are looking forward to ceding control to an autonomous vehicle. It would be nice to have a vehicle that starts out in full control, but gives more and more control to the (learning) driver?
My dad is 88 and really shouldn't be driving, but not quite at the point where we can (at least legally) intervene. He does still (usually) make it back home without getting too lost, lol.
