Emissions aside, do full SAPS oils tend to protect an engine better? I know there is likely no definite answer to this...just curious. I run a full SAPS oil in my truck (m1 0w40) and the UOA results show far less wear metals in the oil than the universal averages. The kicker is that i run a 10k oci and universal averages on the 6.2 are shown for 5k. I also plow with my truck and live in a very cooooold neck of the woods.

Just curious as to why my numbers are different.

The oil lasts longer before you get breakdown signs like varnish. That's in my experience with low sulfur fuels. Once the oil starts to break down I think it likely that the wear metals go up.

Keep the OCI short enough and there's no issue, but then I wonder about the effectiveness of the low saps formulation to protect the emissions equipment as the beginning of the oci is likely the most damaging through excess evaporation.
