If you want zinc try to find CJ-4 oil, the new CK-4 oil has less PPM zinc based on VOA and product details I've read recently. Could always just add ZDDP to your regular oil as well.

I have five classic cars with flat tappet cams. I had been using Valvoline VR1 10w30 because of it's high zinc content. I just didn't like the price. Then I found Quaker State Defy High Mileage oil was high in zinc and said it on the bottle. It was easy to find and cheap at Walmart. I'm doing a oil change this weekend and noticed the bottle had changed and no longer said anything about high zinc. Before I changed my oil I call the 1-800 number on the bottle and the said they have changed the formula and it's no longer a good oil for use in engines with flat tappet cams. They recommended Shell Rotella 15w40 or 10w30. It's too cold for 15w40 so I'm going to use the 10w30 Rotella. I just hope Walmart has it.

Our local Walmart stocks Rotella T5 10w30 ($16.47/gallon) and Delo 400 10w30 ($14.97/gallon). Either one is an excellent choice.

Okay my Walmart had the Rotella 10w30 for $16.47 also. It's too bad it's only one gallon. My car needs five quarts so it cost me a extra $5.17 for that one quart. The bottle says CJ-4/SM. I hope it has 1,200 ppm of zinc. The guy on the Shell oil hotline said that the Rotella 15W40 had 1,200 zinc. I said I don't want to run 15w40. He said you can also get 10w30 I didn't ask if the 10w30 had the same amount of zinc. When I tried to call back they were closed.

That jacked up cost for a maverick quart annoys me - so when I bought Delvac for $13/gallon - got 3 jugs to do two OCI ...

I have been using the Rotella T5 with out issue.

Just looked up the Delo400 (I didnt know walmart stocked it, will have to look next time)
Looks like 1300 on the zinc.

This is just something we have to watch with current HDEOs, which may or may not be filled with CK-4 product. I have no qualms with CK-4 products, but do note that they will often be phosphorus reduced, not because of CK-4 per se, but because of compliance with SN, if applicable, since the SN phosphorus waiver on some of those products is going bye-bye.
