For years now, I've been using Zicam whenever I get a cold. This last week, I started noticing some symptoms on Wednesday the 11th, annd by Thursday, the 12th, it was in full swing. I zipped over to Walmart and picked up some Zicam oral spray, and my cold is now gone. The symptoms were also much ameliorated.

I used to like the nasal gel better, but I think someone sued them and said he lost his sense of smell from using it, so they don't make that one any more.

The oral spray tastes horrid, and makes all food and drink taste weird the whole time you're using it. I think it comes in two flavors, mint and honey lemon, but it doesn't matter. Both are nasty. But for me, it's worth it.

Disclaimer: I have no financial interest in Zicam, or the company that makes it.

Some of that homeopathic stuff works for some folks. The wife swears by a neti pot for preventing sinus infections, while they don't do a lick of good for me. Airborne seems to help both of us, though.

Yeah, I seem to recall the nasal swabs were pulled after they determined it can actually damage your nose.

Nutritious diet, hydration, exercise to get the body temp up, and so on. Rarely get sick, even under some pretty stressful situations the past many years.

Zicam never worked for me either. Vitamin C and Elderberry seem to do the trick for me.

Didnt do anything for me either. Cold fx so far most effective. Zicam, vitamins and neti pot to make my life abit more manageable during a cold. Lots of fluids, mainly water and eucalyptus tea.

Exactly.

I still get a flu shot just because I am in "germy" environments regularly (airports, hotels, planes, public transit). It's also free.

Works for me.Usually it gets rid of one almost instantly or fends one off period.I use the chewable tablets. No cold in almost 2 years...

It's OK. I use the chew able tablets sometimes. It seems to suppress the cold, killing some of the germs floating around in your throat and giving your body some time to come up with the antibodies.

The nasal spray was bad news. I used that a couple of times. The last time it stung like and my sense of smell hasn't been the same since.

+1

Although there have been a few nasty viruses out there last few years.

I haven't found anything that works yet. I get sick fairly often. Shake too many hands. I try super hard now to remember to wash my hands anytime I have been shaking hands. I also keep my gym routine even with a cold- it seems to make it go away quicker, but that is purely speculation on my part.

What seems to work well for me is going to the gym and doing intense cardio, drinking a LOT of water, then coming home and going to bed with many sweatshirts on (while continuing to drink lots of water).
