2016 Acura RDX - ZF/Sachs was the OE supplier for the genuine Acura strut. Not KYB. And this is not the first time I have seen this either. KYB is not always the OE supplier nowadays.

The car had 101K and the driver front strut was leaking. So both front struts were replaced along with new boots (dealer) and an alignment.

I think I need to upgrade my spring compressor. The Branick works okay but its range of compression is limited. Plus I am not a huge fan of how the springs are secured. Any recommendations for a new spring compressor?

I use the OTC Strut Tamer II.

I had shocks changed on a Mercedes several years back...everyone told me that the OEM supplier was Bilstein...that's what I bought to replace the OEMs which turned out to be Sachs upon removal...not that Bilstein's were bad but I wasn't replacing the OEMs with the same that came on the car...

I like Klann spring compressors.
Sachs is OE for lots of applications. I’ve never personally come upon an OE KYB shock in my limited experience.

Klann are the best of the best but for a wall mounted or free standing strut compressor they are big $$$$$.

I like seeing the rust-free cars you work on :)
The best part is that you don't have to replace the mounts

Sachs has supplied lots of American and Mexican-made Nissans for years (most of Nissan's Japanese-made cars use Tokico)

How do the Honda/Acura Sachs ride?

KYB is the OE supplier to most Japanese cars and the largest manufacturer of shocks.

Most Toyotas have KYB shocks from the factory
