There IS a reason that Honda and other Jap bikes use silicate free antifreeze in there aluminum blocks/water pumps.I see that Dex Cool is LR approved and silicate free. Wondering if that silicate in G05 could be detrimental to water pump etc?
You will have to completely flush out the Dexcool before installing the G05.Question: is this a good coolant choice for an L405 Range Rover (3.0 V6 Supercharged)?
I believe Dex Cool is OEM but wanted to see if G05 would work.
Gotcha. And vice versa? You will have to completely flush out the Dexcool before installing the G05.
I thought it was the Japanese bad habit of just topping up with concentrate and never doing a periodic drain and flush, leading to an over rich solution causing precipitation. More bad habits than bad chemistry. There IS a reason that Honda and other Jap bikes use silicate free antifreeze in there aluminum blocks/water pumps.
That makes sense. Do they work on a lot of older cars there?LR indie shop recommended it, wasn’t so sure about it.
DexCool should not be mixed with anything but dex. There is a complex web of what techs are compatible, the consequences of getting wrong range from simple "reduced coolant life" to it turns into gel plugs the system and catastrophically overheats. Don't mix.Gotcha. And vice versa?
Dexcool will turn to a gel when mixed with other coolants.Gotcha. And vice versa?
Yes and no, mix it with an old school IAT coolant and there is a chance it will.Dexcool will turn to a gel when mixed with other coolants.
I’ve made it 16 years and over 260,000 miles using Dexcool in my Chevy 6.0 LS engine changed every 5 years. Still have the original radiator, water pump and heater core.Question: is this a good coolant choice for an L405 Range Rover (3.0 V6 Supercharged)?

You will have to completely flush out the Dexcool before installing the G05.
Yes, completely flush out all the Dexcool with clean water before refilling with G05.Gotcha. And vice versa?
They are both OAT coolants , free of any IAT inhibitors, I believe G30 does not contain 2-Eha, Dexcool sure does.Ok to confuse matters more, Valvoline recommends G30 for this vehicle, not Dex Cool. G30 superior in any way?
