Z2 and Z5 pro question

Hello,

Im working my 2004 saab 9-3 and 1982 MB 300CD. Ive done wash, clay, wash, Zpc, and just did AIO on the 1982. Ill do the AIO on the Saab within the next day or two.

I plan to use Zfx enabled Z2 and Z5. The MB has a few swirls, so Ill plan to use two or so Z5, with a topping of ZFX. However, the saab does not really have swirls. It has some very fine lines in the paint, just in the clearcoat and only noticable from an angle in indirect strong light...

So a few questions:
-How many coats should I do on the saab, and how many should be Z5 versus Z2?
-If I do Z5 with ZFX on the MB for two coats, and then top it with Z2, should I do ZFX in the Z2, or is it OK to just do Z2 plain since it will have plenty of time to cure being the topcoat?

Do 2 coats of Z5pro with ZFX and one coat of Z2pro with or without ZFX. 3 coats max per day.

Use whatever you want for Z5 and Z2. There are no rules. Max is 3 coats per 12 hr period when using ZFX.

Only use ZFX if you are going to apply more than one coat in a 12 hr period.

I suppose the issue is that Z2 pro supposedly has better shine/optics. For the saab, where the paint is more like new, do I need to go more than one coat? How well does the Z5 hide very minor/fine clearcoat imperfections?

On the MB Ill be doing the recommended two coats of Z5, followed by Z2. Ill be applying all three within 12 hours likely, and at least the fist two within 12 hours.

What if I do the first two within 12 and then do the third >12 hours later. Is it still smart to apply ZFx for that third coat? It seems to me that there may be some sort of a durability advantage?

Z5's swirl filling abilities are minor. I would not count on Z5 to hide defects. Consider swirl filling an added bonus of Z5.

Apply as many coats as you like but the max is 3 per ZFX application. One coat is fine but more ensures even coverage and shine.

If you just want to add one coat after a 12 hour ZFX cure, there is no need for more ZFX. Remember, ZFX allows you to apply up to 3 coats of Z2 or Z5 in rapid succession. If you are only applying one extra coat, skip the ZFX. The durability advantage comes from the ZFX curing the coats quickly, as opposed to waiting 12 hours between coats. So, ZFX provides a faster, "harder" shine.

Z5pro is a bit clearer and Z2pro is a bit more reflective.
