Youtube tv has lost all the Disney channels including ESPN and ABC. You can subscribe to ESPN only for $30 a month. IMO it's a ploy by Disney to require people to subscribe directly to them. Probably going to really hurt YTV. I've been happy with it. I don't watch ESPN other than football games and college BB. I'm wondering how many of you have YTV.

I did for the trial to watch The Last of Us; but then I cancelled after that.

Although I don't hear many people who subscribe to YTTV to watch Disney+, I agree this is a move to subscribe directly to Disney+

It's not so much about the "Disney" channels on YTTV as it is the ESPN/ABCs (sports). You know part of it is to try and drive people to Hulu live, Fubo, ESPN, or Disney+ apps.

We've had YTTV for years and IMO, the provider is almost never to blame. I won't pretend they want to keep the charges low so they can pass it on to us, but it never helps them if they do pass them on raise the price year after year after year. Or, when, in this case Disney, says "YouTubeTV removed the channels from you" - not accurate either. Is Disney suggesting they can carry/broadcast those channels without an agreement ? Didn't think so.

Here’s the full list of networks being pulled from YouTube TV: ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, Freeform, FX, FXX, FXM, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, SEC Network, Nat Geo, Nat Geo Wild, ABC News Live, ACC Network, Localish; on the Spanish plan, ESPN Deportes, Baby TV Español and Nat Geo Mundo.

All junk channels, these greedy content providers caused the downfall of the entire cable/satellite TV industry with their greed. YTTV is just a different delivery method from the old school run a cable to your house or put a satellite on your house services. Who needs 4 ESPNs, 3 FXs, 3 Disneys? They all show nothing but reruns.

Formula 1 won't be available to many this weekend (Brazil race isn't until next weekend), but I have F1TV so I'll watch on that. Checked on the OSU Buckeyes football tomorrow against Penn St and it's on FOX, so good to go there.

ESPN was the biggest contributor to the flight away from cable to begin with. It was like 30% of the cost for a cable package, and ESPN would hold the providers hostage saying everyone must get ESPN or no deal, even though most people did not watch ESPN, enough diehards had to have it - so it forced the providers hands. So the providers lost when streaming became a thing.

I like being able to pick and choose and just subscribe to a channel. I thought about paying $30 for a couple months of ESPN to watch college football. I didn't - but I did consider it.

I just wonder if ESPN should be careful what they wish for, because we have all seen this movie before.

No F1 race until Brasil Nov 09, right?

My notification says I will get a $20 credit
I just signed into F1TV and realized that ! 🤣 Yeap, email says they're already offering the $20 credit. People will still moan about it or expect a bigger credit. My math says $74.99 divided by 30 days is two-fitty and that's for ALL channels, not just the Disney-owned ones ! I'm good with that credit !

You might want to look at the wording of the YouTube TV email closer (see quote below).

"...We know how disruptive it is to lose channels you enjoy, which is why it’s our goal to bring Disney content back to YouTube TV. We’re committed to continuing to work with Disney to reach an agreement, but if their content is unavailable for an extended period of time, we’ll offer our subscribers a $20 credit."

We went through this exact same issue with YouTube TV earlier this year with temporarily losing the FOX channels for ~12 hours. No $20 credit was actually awarded because their definition of "for an extended period" seems to be 48 hours.

Is that $20 per month to continue or just 1 month?

I have had YouTube TV for about 10 years now and no contract dispute lasted beyond 5 days. Most were resolved in 2 or 3 days.

Most of these get resolved quickly indeed.

Then YouTube jacks cost again. I've about had it.
Yeap, I don't recall any that lasted more than a few days. When we signed up, it was $35/month and it doesn't seem that long ago, but I'm thinking it was around '17.

Ooops 😂 I only read the first line or two of the email before deleting and then I opened it from my deleted messages. Shows how much I care about these channels and this peeing contest Disney started.

I really find the behavior of Disney distasteful. Back in the late 80's, I got into the effort to keep them from building a Civil War theme park complete with slave auction as I remember on the ten unpreserved Brandy Station battlefield in VA. After they refused to give in, I found in public sources the names and home addresses of all the directors of the company and had them published in numerous Civil War preservation newsletters, asking people to bombard them with letters. About three weeks after this, I got a registered letter from a Florida law firm saying that I was going to be sued for making public the names and addresses, even though they were in the public domain.

The very next day, Disney dropped the project and left the area and money was raised to buy the battlefield. I never heard another thing from the law firm. This was one of the first big preservation victories that led to what is today the American Battlefield Trust. I have been a donating member of the trust and its predecessor organizations since 1987 and I can thank Disney for getting me involved through their behavior.

And the have the gall to act woke too. The whole Disney mess is not Walt's ideal.

Same here.
I just renewed a couple of months ago for football season.
If the price increases again, I'm out.
Will just have to figure out an alternative entertainment source.
$35 when I first joined, now $83. $99 next?
"Cutting the cord" is getting expensive.

FYI, YouTube TV has just posted the $20 credit for next month's fee. You need to log into the account, open Settings, then Updates to claim the credit. Word is that Disney and YouTube TV are very far from reaching an acceptable carriage agreement.
