No liability if the owner said put it back as is and was explained the risk of not replacing it. You're assuming a whole lot in your claim.

Owners can and most likely are wrong in their line of thinking when it comes to cars. Rays channel was a prime example of that.

Why would you? IIRC it was a re-ring job, not a full overhaul. If the job was being done under warranty, they would only replace the pistons/rings and associated gaskets.

That's because warranty work is always the lowest common denominator. Spending your own money is a bit different. My opinion though...not gospel.
