Seems to possibly have an issue with popularity.
Last time I checked my dealer's website (about a month ago), he had a brand-new 2014 for $46,000. If I was looking to spend that much on a car, I'd definitely be tempted.

Is that a list price? Was there a single owner who paid that price? The list price is irrelevant when purchasing any vehicle. You need to take in to account actual selling price of the vehicle.

If dealer has brand new 2013, 2014 Equus still on his lot, why you couldn't offer him $30K! Heck, even highly popular SRT8 Charger was picked up by Overkill for ridiculous price as it was sitting in the dealer show room for a long time.

Bottom Line:- Don't even look at the sticker. Ignore it completely. It is only there so that you can brag about the insane deal you got :-)

Yeah, which is why it might be difficult to determine if 26K for a 2013 Equus with 60K miles on it is a good deal versus a low ball offer on a newer one.

For the 2013, it would likely depend more on your circumstance and how much you like the car versus the depreciation and your feelings about ( and ability to pay ) x amount for a newer one. I would be more tempted to buy a new 2014 on the lot versus a used one if the difference was in the 10-12K range.

2013 Hyundai Equus with 60,000 miles 26,000$ good or not

Depends on if that is the car you really want or not.

For about the same price you could get a 6-year-old S-Class.

When the Equus was first announced, someone here wondered if Richard Burton or Daniel Radcliffe would drive one. . . .

Strange name for a car, since few people nowadays know any Latin. And what would be the plural? "Equii"? How do you say that?

I know Hyundai spent tons of money on that in house Tau V8, so it should be very nice. It's won awards for both the 4.6 and 5.0

Hmm. Did someone say "high depreciation" and "really nice used car"?

Perhaps what Hyundai should do is spin the Genesis nameplate off as Toyota did Lexus, and have two models, the car that is the current Genesis and then the top-of-the-line, the car that is the current Equus. Genesis 460 and Genesis 500?

Hyundai made the conscious decision some time back not to spin off a luxury nameplate. Officially, because of the cost involved no doubt combined with the perception and demand elements in relation to their investment. If the Equus is produced in limited numbers as more of a standalone and everything else more easily slots into the Hyundai dealership, that was probably a smart move.

Can you tell us, specifically, what is inferior about this car?
I don't have one and am not in he market for one, but you seem to know that it is very bad.
Is it the engine? Transmission? Safety? Electronics?

Horse123 just likes to spout off his opinion without stating it is just that...his opinion.

Well the dealer does have some money in the vehicle, and likely has some credit tied up in it. So they need to cross their losses due to depreciation vs losses due to capital tied up. I'm surprised at dealers willing to eat $20k or more, but if that's how the used market is going for the model, then so be it.

We got a good deal on a new, left over 2014 odyssey prinarily because the dealer wanted 2016 pilots, and that was explained to us that way.
